If just one in ten Southern Californians were to install a greywater system in their home, the state would conserve as much potable water as it expects to generate through the massive $1 billion desalination plant that is about to come online.

So why aren't more state and local government officials encouraging California homeowners to install residential greywater systems as a key part of reducing urban water usage throughout the state?

California's oil and gas industry is estimated (with official data due to be released in coming days) to use more than 2 million gallons of fresh water per day;

Californians are outraged after discovering that these firms are excluded from Governor Jerry Brown's mandatory water restrictions, "forcing ordinary Californians to shoulder the burden of the drought."

When you see the number of high ranking military officials who have been fired or just let go it IS SCARY! When I checked out the internet to see how many current Muslims are in the White House it covered 26 pages.

Most people ARE COMPLETELY UNAWARE of what is happening to our country!!! The picture below is of the five first line US nuclear carriers docked together in one place. Just like Battleship Row, Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. These carriers were all pulled out from the MIDDLE EAST and the Afghanistan support role leaving our land forces naked and exposed without the air support needed to carry out their missions!

A WhiteHouse.gov petition calling for the prohibition of laws requiring mandatory vaccines has been throttled by the White House, buried from public view and finally frozen for over 36 hours to prevent the petition from achieving 100,000 signatures.

The petition, which was rapidly headed toward the 100,000 signatures needed to trigger a response from the White House, was frozen mid-day Friday and has remained stuck at 56,791 signatures for over 36 hours.

Fifty-one years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson launched the War on Poverty. Since then, taxpayers have spent more than $22 trillion fighting Johnson's war, three times the cost of all military wars in U.S. history.

Last year, taxpayers spent more than $920 billion on 80 different anti-poverty programs. Despite this spending, the percentage of Americans who are poor has barely budged since the late 1960s. As President Reagan put it: "We declared war on poverty, and poverty won."

Take it from the adult child of a loving gay parent: redefining marriage promotes a family structure in which children suffer.

I write because I am one of many children with gay parents who believe we should protect marriage. I believe you were right when, during the Proposition 8 deliberations, you said "the voice of those children [of same-sex parents] is important." I'd like to explain why I think redefining marriage would actually serve to strip these children of their most fundamental rights.

Roeland Park, KS - Recently in a number of US states, police have been writing people tickets for letting their cars warm up in the morning.

Not only are police extorting people for this common practice, but they have also been rummaging through people's vehicles as a "demonstration" to show them how easily someone could steal their cars or belongings. Ironically the laws are said to be intended to prevent thieves from breaking into cars while the police are doing the job for them instead.

Gov. Jerry Brown, who preserved religious exemptions to state vaccination requirements in 2012, on Wednesday appeared open to legislation that would eliminate all but medical waivers.

The governor's new flexibility highlighted a growing momentum toward limiting vaccination exemptions partly blamed for the state's worst outbreak of measles since 2000 and flare-ups of whooping cough and other preventable illnesses.

Why isn't the USDA regulating new GMO crops for environmental harm?

You may have heard of the new genetically engineered Simplot potato. It was made with a new GE technology called RNAi (RNA interference), a technology for which many important gaps remain in our understanding. One good example is Scotts, the lawn product company, which wrote to the USDA several years ago asking whether it needed to regulate a Roundup-resistant GE Kentucky bluegrass. Scotts claimed that because it did not involve plant pests in developing the grass, it should be absolved from regulation-and USDA agreed. In the early days of genetic engineering, the large majority of GE crops used plant pest genes or processes. But that is no longer the case. The large majority of potentially useful, and possibly harmful, genes-whether from other plants, microbes, or animals-no longer come from pests. And many kinds of harm that GE crops may cause, like resistant weeds or the loss of monarch butterflies, are not captured by USDA's current definition of "plant pest" harm.

Recently the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced major new regulations on the emissions of methane into the air from oil and gas production.

It calls methane a "potent" pollutant and its new rules would require a 45 percent reduction by 2025 from 2012 levels. Most Americans support these new rules, according to polling from environmental groups. This isn't surprising. Methane sounds like a dirty and dangerous pollutant and even deadly if leaked into water or the air.
