A public school teacher who spends his/her own money to purchase supplies, materials, texts, and learning aids for the classroom may deduct the money spent on those items on their itemized federal tax return.

Parents who educate their children at home with materials purchased using their own money may not deduct the cost of those materials on the family tax return. These parents are no less teachers than those working in a local school, but current tax laws treat them as if they are.

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it may also be a powerful conscience builder for toddlers, according to a new study.

Researchers found that differences in how toddlers imitate their mothers can be related to how developed their conscience is as preschoolers. The study showed that toddlers who enthusiastically imitate their mothers tend to develop a sense of right and wrong sooner than those who don’t.

HHS Secretary Donna E. Shalala today approved a welfare demonstration in the state of California which is designed to promote self-sufficiency for recipients of Aid to Families with Dependent Children.

Teen-age AFDC parents who maintain at least a "C" grade point average or graduate from high school will be eligible to receive cash bonuses of $100 and $500, respectively. Parents who fail to maintain a "D" grade point average could have their AFDC payment reduced by $50 for each of two months.

After all they were the pioneers ten years back one of the very companies to have the foresight of growth in the sector. GE quit India because they found out that it is not worth owning the dirty part of the business. Let the native companies like HCL, WIPRO and Tatas handle the dirty work for little money.

On any given day, Fort Worth animal control Officer Jimmy Thetford rounds up between 10 and 15 stray dogs. Thetford said the most frustrating part of the job is not being able to find the animals' home.

In an effort to combat the high euthanasia percentage and to return pets to their owners, Fort Worth has started implanting microchips under animals that leave the shelter. The chips contain identification data on the animal and its owner's contract information.
