Admittedly liberal Mediaite exposes the condescension, exaggeration, hypocrisy, and naivete of Brietbart writer Kurt Schlicter's two posts cajoling Ron Paul supporters and "libertarians".

In a two-part column over at Breitbart's Big Government, Kurt Schlichter practically begs libertarians to "support our Constitution" and vote for Mitt Romney this November in order to avoid not only the "destruction of this country" by way of a second Obama term, but also to avoid the destruction of libertarianism by way of the Libertarian Party becoming a pariah. The begging will not work, especially when it comes with the usual platitudinous overtures to America and the Constitution being at stake; and the suggestion that not supporting Romney is to selfishly disregard of the Constitution in the name of ideology. No matter how you dice the logic, a committed Republican accusing libertarians of not supporting the Constitution is nothing short of laughable. . . .

In a ruling last fall, Wisconsin judge Patrick Fiedler ruled against a family that produced raw milk. In his ruling, he held that the plaintiffs "operate a dairy farm," and thus had to comply with State law in that regard.

Much more disturbingly, however, Fiedler ruled that the plaintiffs had "no fundamental right" to consume foods of their choice, or even to "own a cow" and "consume milk from their own cow." In a clarification to his ruling, the judge wrote that the plaintiffs (and thus people in general)...

"Parents should not have any fear about sending their children to this school." That is the message New York State officials are giving after hiding diagnoses of up to twelve public-school children.

Despite claiming to have arrived at a diagnosis, public officials are using federal HIPAA privacy laws to keep all information sealed, refusing to give any information to the public or the affected parents. They are essentially saying, "We know the problem, but we refuse to tell you."

Call it "zero tolerance gone wild."

As public schools are now crawling with police patrols, hundreds of thousands of public school children as young as six are nailed with arrests, community service, and fines yearly for infractions as small as paper airplanes, failure to clean up crumbs from the lunchroom floor, and "disrupting class."

Jared Marcum, the eighth grade Logan, West Virginia student who was suspended and arrested after refusing to change his NRA t-shirt at school, was met by several supporters Monday morning outside of Logan Middle School.

Jared returned to class, fresh off of suspension, wearing the same exact shirt that initiated the "t-shirt control" controversy in the first place. "There's a lot of people wearing this same exact shirt, showing great, great support and I really appreciate it," Jared said just before walking into school.

School officials from Anderson County spoke out against a proposed state tuition tax credit at a meeting with lawmakers Tuesday.

The "Put Parents in Charge" program would, among other things, give parents tax credits for tuition costs of private or independent schools. Several school officials expressed the idea that if private schools or parents who home school their children get public money, those entities should be held to the same standards as public schools.

"Chilling" is the word lawyers use to describe governmental behavior that does not directly interfere with constitutionally protected freedoms, but rather tends to deter folks from exercising them.

Classic examples of "chilling" occurred in the 1970s, when FBI agents and U.S. Army soldiers, in business suits with badges displayed or in full uniform, showed up at anti-war rallies and proceeded to photograph and tape record protesters. When an umbrella group of protesters sued the government, the Supreme Court dismissed the case, ruling that the protesters lacked standing -- meaning, because they could not show that they were actually harmed, they could not invoke the federal courts for redress. Yet, they were harmed, and the government knew it.

"The New Homeschoolers" are not really that new. Change a couple of names, numbers, and dates, and Taylor and Goldstein's articles on homeschooling could have come right out of a print magazine from the mid-1990s...
