After watching several documentaries about our food supply and learning just how deficient in nutrients the food we consume has become over the past 30-years, our family has decided to make some serious changes. We are buying organic, eating in season and buying locally. Our meat is grassfed, our bread in homebaked and I feel good about what my family is eating.

If you aren't aware of the danger genentically modified corn and soy products present to your families diet, continue reading. Find out the latest news and commentary on GMO food sources, eating and buying organic foods, nutritional news, food related health issues and much more.

S.510: Hidden in House Amendment to Senate Amendment to House Bill! HR 3082 now hides S 510! The House passed it by 212 to 205 - without a single Republican vote!

It is buried in the 423 pages of the Continuing Resolution which provides government funding for the next fiscal year - a MUST PASS bill. But the S.510 amendment can be removed by the Senate before the bill is passed. Act here to help make that happen. Food Freedom advocates know that this bill is nothing short of disastrous for health, freedom and food because it gives control of all food to the multinational corporations, not you and not the small farmer.

A Central Valley egg producer filed a lawsuit today against the State of California seeking a better understanding of Proposition 2, the legislation that sets minimum standards for the size of hen cages.

The suit filed by J.S West in Fresno County Superior Court, is only asking for clarity on what Proposition 2 requires and not challenging the legality of the law. JS West is one of California's leading egg farmers that recently spent millions of dollars on new cages.

Apparently, no one told Harry Reid to check Article I, Section 7 of the Constitution before passing S510, the food-safety bill that Democrats hailed as a major lame-duck session achievement - and which ran afoul of their own party in the House.

Section 107 of the bill raises taxes, and as any Constitutional scholar can attest - or anyone else who has actually read the document that Senators swore to uphold when taking office - only the House of Representatives has that power: A food safety bill that has burned up precious days of the Senate's lame-duck session appears headed back to the chamber because Democrats violated a constitutional provision requiring that tax provisions originate in the House.

Senate passes new food police bill: Roll call vote 73-25; Senator Bennet: "It's all rigged"

I mentioned last week that a new Big Foodie bill opposed by a diverse coalition of limited government activists, small family farmers, and left-leaning "locovores" was coming down the pike. Today, I'm disappointed to tell you, the regulatory expansion bill masquerading as a "safety" measure passed by a large margin -- with stomach-turning Republican support. Here's the roll call vote...

Take a look at that picture with all kinds of good stuff - fruits, veggies, nuts, milk, and yogurt. Now imagine it with one of those red circles over it, the kind with a line through to indicate everything therein is banned or off-limits.

Hold that image in your mind because it's what you can expect if the much-vaunted FDA Food Safety bill - now on the floor of the Senate -- is passed into law. The wipe-out won't happen right away, but it will happen - gradually, over the next few years.

All 65 of the free-range turkeys raised at White Gate Farm this year had their destinies decided weeks ago by the local families who reserved them for their main course this Thanksgiving.

"It would be a terrible thing if this ended up making the food supply less safe, and that's a real possibility," said Lord. It would be less safe, she believes, if the regulatory burden ends up causing some farms to curtail or even quit production of local food, undermining the local food movement that's been attracting growing numbers of devotees in recent years.

Senate Bill 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, has been called "the most dangerous bill in the history of the United States of America."

It would grant the U.S. government new authority over the public's right to grow, trade and transport any foods. This would give Big brother the power to regulate the tomato plants in your backyard. It would grant them the power to arrest and imprison people selling cucumbers at farmer's markets. It would criminalize the transporting of organic produce if you don't comply with the authoritarian rules of the federal government.

The Food Safety Modernization act sounds like a good idea. But this bill poses a grave danger to our food supply, and our liberty, and small farmers, especially raw dairy farmers.

There are many reasons to oppose S510, the so-called "Food Safety" bill that will come up in the Senate after the election. It will do nothing to improve actual food safety, relying almost totally on burdensome paperwork.

There are few things more annoying than people blaming their failures on others. There are few things more ironically humorous than watching a clueless person publicly scold people and in the process reveal his or her own ignorance.

Actually, it was more revealing than McLaughlin realizes. Perhaps she has spent too much time in Barney Frank's district (he was a customer), but businesses don't succeed by telling customers what they should want to buy. Customers have this annoying tendency to know...
