After watching several documentaries about our food supply and learning just how deficient in nutrients the food we consume has become over the past 30-years, our family has decided to make some serious changes. We are buying organic, eating in season and buying locally. Our meat is grassfed, our bread in homebaked and I feel good about what my family is eating.

BEIJING -- China's organic produce movement is growing steadily amid recurring health scares and a desire for a return to natural food, some growers say.

"The Chinese people are very aware that their food is rubbish," said Romuald Pieters, director of Sustainable Development & Agriculture Creation, a consulting firm working in China. Last year's contaminated-milk scandal reinforced fears about China's food supply.

The label on the jug reads "for pet use only," but in the privacy of their kitchens, thousands of people statewide mix smoothies with, churn ice cream with, and drink cold glasses of raw milk.

It is illegal in Florida and many other states to sell raw milk. Drinking raw milk is like religion for some people. They report benefits for ailments including eczema, aches, stomach problems, even lactose intolerance. Marji Bitterman, 64, says she buys raw milk for her pet. By that she means husband.

For the past five years Margo O'Neill has chosen to live on a diet consisting almost entirely of organic food. Although she admits her shopping bill would be lower if she bought ordinary fare, O'Neill insists the benefits outweigh the costs.

"The food tastes better and it gives me more energy," said O'Neill, a grandmother from Hampstead, north London. She is a firm believer that organic food is healthier. So she was more than a little vexed when the Food Standards Agency (FSA) published a report last week saying the opposite.

Economy Gastronomy, the BBC's latest flagship cooking show, is championing the art of eating well but cheaply.

The presenters, chefs Allegra McEvedy and Paul Merrett, will tell families how to serve up tasty food without busting the household budget. Each week, the pair will give top tips on how to swap microwave TV meals in favour of savoury home-made tortillas, hotpots, bhajis and fish pies by using leftovers in the fridge and cupboard. But TV bosses have decided not to include organic food in the show's money-saving menus.

One morning this week as I watched Morning Joe, poor Mika was getting razzed by the guys for buying organic food. A new study out suggests that the nutritional quality of organic food is no different than traditionally farmed foods.

The media (and advocacy groups I'm sure) have taken it several steps further to say that paying extra for organic foods is a waste of money. Wowwee. Misinformation for all. I thought the coverage sounded too definitive to be true, so I took a look at the study...

Edmonds has become the first city in the state to ban reusable plastic grocery bags at retail stores.

The Edmonds City Council approved the ban Tuesday night 5-1, saying plastic bags hurt the environment and are easily replaced by reusable grocery bags. The ban won't affect plastic bags for produce and bulk food, which will continue to be available to shoppers. Stores can still offer free paper bags.

It cost him his job at a Round Rock Randalls, but Troy Schafer, who was fired last week after chasing a purse snatcher out of the grocery store, said he didn't have much choice.

The customer called police as Schafer collected Welch's purse, which had already been gone through and dropped in the field. Then Schafer chased the suspect for about another quarter-mile before police caught up and arrested the 15-year-old. "We got her purse back, all of her money, everything," Schafer said. "Then, the next day, my loss prevention unit from Randalls came in and said I was suspended without pay."

Sunday, July 26, 2009, little Bailey Barzano, a 4-year-old girl was taken to the hospital after eating a Skittles candy.

Currently, no one is certain how the Oxycodone managed to get inside a bag of Skittles that appeared to be sealed shut. Additionally, no one is sure how Bailey managed to get the bag of candy in the first place.
