Some doctors believe moms with a debilitating pregnancy complication could get relief from smoking pot, but it's not as simple as that.

In early January 2015, Trinity Dogood started vomiting and couldn't stop. "I thought I had food poisoning or an awful stomach bug," Dogood said. But after three days, the vomiting still hadn't subsided, and Trinity found herself in the ER of a local hospital, begging for relief. When the triage nurse took her blood for testing, they discovered she was pregnant.

Large chemical companies and their major trade association and lobbying arm, the American Chemistry Council, say they can maintain high safety standards through self-regulation and voluntary actions. Our report finds this isn't the case.

Chemical manufacturing uses dangerous substances that can be hazardous to the health and well-being of chemical plant workers and to the residents who live nearby. The American Chemistry Council (ACC) and leaders in the chemical industry have fought stronger government oversight of chemical manufacturing for decades, arguing that the rules currently regulating toxic chemicals are adequate.

In a surprising move earlier this month, California Governor Jerry Brown signed what is now the toughest ban in the United States on personal hygiene products that contain microbeads.

AB 888 was authored by Representative Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) and sponsored by Californians Against Waste (CAW), 5 Gyres Institute, Clean Water Action, the Story of Stuff Project and the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA). According to Bloom, while there have been other states that have passed similar bans, AB 888 goes a step further to avoid loopholes and ensure that only environmentally-safe alternatives are accepted.

The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has been desperately seeking ways to clean up toxic radiation spewing from the Fukushima Daiichi site. Now, a natural plant may be able to save the nuclear power plant: cannabis.

Using plants to clean up toxic soil is known as phytoremediation. Two members of the mustard seed family are usually used in phytoremediation. However, cannabis has been proven to be just as effective, if not more so, at absorbing toxic metals from soil as other phytoremediation plants.

Two years ago, the Johnsons wanted to build a small pond in their front yard. They got their plan approved by the state, and used the pond to provide water for their animals. They thought it was a beautiful addition to the dry landscape.

The Obama administration is seizing new authority to control what it calls Waters of the United States. This includes things like irrigation ditches, isolated ponds - even low points in the landscape where water might collect after a heavy rain. The consequences of this new federal authority will be severe.

A group of Cincinnati hospitals has mandated drug testing of new mothers and infants amid an 841 percent increase in the number of expectant Ohio mothers found to have an opioid addiction in the last decade, according to state health officials.

Seven hospitals in the Cincinnati area have universally tested for drugs since late 2013. The number of newborns in the area that were exposed in the womb to Percocet, methadone, heroin and other opiates quadrupled from 10.8 infants per 1,000 births in 2009 to 46 per 1,000 births in the first three months of 2013, according to Cincinnati Children's.

Stacey Boylan, the mother of a witness to the shooting, told reporters that he asked potential victims whether or not they were Christian. "And they would stand up and he said, 'Good, because you're a Christian, you're going to see God in just about one second.' And then he shot and killed them."

Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald deserves a round of applause, ladies and gentlemen, because he just unveiled a brilliant idea that could conceivably wind up reducing welfare abuse in Maine and making the entitlement system a whole lot more accountable.

In an op-ed he penned for the Twin City Times, Mayor Macdonald explained that he wants to set up a website that would contain "the names, addresses, length of time on assistance and the benefits being collected by every individual on the dole."

Nurses all across the United States are having their Constitutional rights trampled upon for refusing mandatory flu vaccinations. As we have previously reported, thousands of nurses across the United States are taking a stand against forced flu vaccine.

It was only a matter of time before some of these nurses began taking legal action to protect their rights. Some litigation began last year, but details are not available publicly. Dr. Karen Sullivan Sibert, herself a pro-vaccine doctor, wrote an opinion piece explaining how requiring nurses to wear masks for refusing the flu vaccination violates HIPPA law for patient privacy. (See: Pro Vaccine Doctor Explains how Mandatory Flu Vaccines for Healthcare Workers Violates HIPPA Law) In addition to the violation of personal rights, the CDC published a study in 2013 showing that vaccination of healthcare workers with the seasonal flu vaccine offered no significant measurable protection of patients from the flu. (See: CDC Study: Mandatory Flu Vaccinations of Health Care Workers Offer NO Protection to Patients),

A defiant Kentucky county clerk, who has been ordered to face a federal judge on Thursday in a hearing about her refusal to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, says she won't resign.

After Davis initially stopped issuing marriage licenses, two gay couples and two straight couples sued her. A federal judge ordered her to issue the licenses, an appeals court upheld that decision and the Supreme Court on Monday declined to intervene in the case, seemingly leaving Davis with no legal ground to stand on.
