Medical Health News

We have some real problems and they are only going to get worse. We have a right to know what we are eating. People are getting allergies, this isn't normal folks. If we don't pay attention to what's happening, in our food supply, to our farmers, the plants, and ultimately our grocery store we are going to wake up one day and realize we trusted the health of our children and the health of our families to the government. And the government let us down.

Will the Marlboro Man light up a joint soon?

The states of Washington and Colorado legalized possession of small amounts of recreational marijuana in the November elections, but it is unclear if any cigarette makers plan to supply either market. Marijuana remains illegal under federal law. President Barack Obama indicated last week that going after individual users won't be a priority, but there's no firm indication yet what action the Justice Department might take against states or businesses that participate in the nascent pot market, which has the potential to be large.

Old and busted: Barack Obama is the most gifted orator in American politics since ... well, FDR, Lincoln, William Jennings Bryan, take your pick.

New hotness: The President can't express himself clearly without his apologists at the ready to explain his "context." For the third time in two months, Obama's musings on the economy have put him in hot water and given Mitt Romney huge openings to exploit. Kim Strassel believes that four words in particular have Team Obama in a panic...

The New York Times Magazine recently ran a story about a fascinating new product, a spray called AO+ Refreshing Cosmetic Mist, from a small biotech company AOBiome. The spray contains billions of cultivated Nitrosomonas eutropha.

AOBiome scientists believe these bacteria act as a kind of pro-biotic for the skin. Once applied, they become a built-in cleanser, deodorant, anti-inflammatory, and immune booster by feeding on the ammonia in our sweat. The MIT-trained chemical engineer who invented AO+, David Whitlock, noticed that horses will roll in dirt after the getting sweaty: they are actually collecting the bacteria that transform the ammonia into nitrite and nitric oxide.

Good question, especially given his history of covering the issue. I'm guessing, is no, since ABC seems intent on excluding representatives of alternative viewpoints.

That's why Team Barry offered the White House as a venue, that's why no Republicans are invited, that's why ABC is even rejecting paid ads that oppose Obama's proposal: The point, I take it, is to make ObamaCare seem like the only game in town.

At the June 29, 2012 anti-Obamacare rally hosted by American For Prosperity, blogger Ari Armstrong captured this short video of Dr. Jill Vecchio explaining how Obamacare will force her to practice substandard medicine.

The answer, of course, is an emphatic yes, since by its very nature, ObamaCare is too much for ObamaCare.

Individual states' freedom to opt out of designing their own state-specific health insurance exchanges is turning out to be yet another flaw in the oh-so-masterful plan. Last week, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that the government is extending the deadline by which states must submit their blueprints for their exchanges, meant to be tools with which consumers can shop around for insurance options, but all states must still indicate whether they're planning on doing it themselves, forging a partnership with the feds, or letting the federal government do it for them, by this Friday.

"You don't want to buy it, fine. We'll fine you into oblivion."

That, says a lawyer representing a number of Catholic institutions, is what the Obama administration will say to his clients if the federal courts do not strike down a regulation the administration has issued that requires all health insurance plans to cover sterilizations and artificial contraceptives, including those that induce abortions.

Let's take a moment off from baseless speculation over tomorrow's decision on ObamaCare for less-baseless speculation as to what comes afterward.

What exactly are Barack Obama's contingency plans if the Supreme Court overturns ObamaCare, in whole or in part? On Monday, Marc Ambinder tweeted out this interesting update before it became apparent that the court would wait for Thursday to release its decision. According to Ambinder, the White House had a raft of executive orders at the ready...

Nine states have passed legislation legalizing medicinal marijuana.

The Ohio Patient Network is hoping that the Buckeye State will soon join them. But that may be too much to ask of our Republican-dominated state government - even as thousands of ill Ohioans suffer.

Ron Paul may succeed at convincing Republican voters to force a head-to-head comparison alongside Mitt Romney.

After Ron Paul spoke in Sparks, Nevada, earlier this month, observers took note of Mitt Romney supporters crumpling up their Romney signs and vowing to vote for Paul. It was the first time many Republican activists had ever heard Paul speak outside of the several minutes of sound bites allotted to him during televised debates.
