Federal officials have approved the creation of a "medical home" program for Wisconsin, which will allow foster children to receive all aspects of their care from one central provider.

Smith says the medical home approach allows care to be tailored to the specific needs of each foster child. That mean those children will see their primary care physician through one facility, along with any mental health and additional services that may be required.

Natural induction is only a helping hand - it's usually gentle enough that it won't bring on labor if your body isn't ready. It's not recommended for use before 39-40 weeks.

You should do your own research on any natural induction method before trying it. Make sure you know the risks and are taking the correct amount of any herbal product and don't overstrain yourself with labor inducing exercises.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is being sued by six families who claim the agency can't impose new vaccine requirements for schoolchildren.

Beginning in the fall, seventh-graders and 12th graders must be vaccinated for tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and meningitis. Those who aren't vaccinated cannot attend public schools. The lawsuit recently filed with the state Supreme Court claims the DHHR overstepped its authority. Delegate Patrick Lane represents the plaintiffs. The Kanawha County Republican say the DHHR can't require vaccines without the Legislature's approval.

The House voted to remove country-of-origin labels on beef, pork and chicken sold in the U.S., hoping to prevent a protracted battle over the labels with Canada and Mexico.

Thanks to a little-known congressional bill, it may soon be impossible to tell whether your Fourth of July burger is all-American Angus or beef imported from the Amazon, according to a Facebook meme. "The House of Representatives just voted 300-131 to remove 'country-of-origin labeling' on chicken, pork, and beef sold in the United States," the meme says. "Sorry but you don't deserve to know where your meat is coming from." Buy Local!

People on Medicare who spend one or two nights in the hospital are finding out, and often too late, that they weren't really "admitted" to the hospital. This can be a costly discovery.

Even though they were in a bed in a hospital room, the hospital may have categorized them as being there for "observation," rather than being formally "admitted." But patients being "observed" might face some unpleasant surprises when they leave the hospital. For example, Medicare might not pay the tab for a rehab facility or a nursing home, even if a physician releases the patient to an outside facility to recover from a fall or stroke. Or Medicare might not pay for a visiting nurse when the patient goes home.
