"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
                                             -- George Washington

"If we stuck to the Constitution as written, we would have: no federal meddling in our schools; no Federal Reserve; no U.S. membership in the UN; no gun control; and no foreign aid.

We would have no welfare for big corporations, or the "poor"; no American troops in 100 foreign countries; no NAFTA, GATT, or "fast-track"; no arrogant federal judges usurping states rights; no attacks on private property; no income tax. We could get rid of most of the cabinet departments, most of the agencies, and most of the budget."

Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom by Dr. Ron Paul

"Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens' lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons."
                                             -- Congressman Ron Paul

End the Fed by Dr. Ron Paul

"The government is best which governs least."
                                                       -- Thomas Jefferson

If anyone needs a reminder on the absurdity of the U.S. approach to drugs, consider the fact that cannabis is classified as a Schedule 1 drug with "no currently accepted medical use" and a "high potential for abuse."

Still, alcohol is left to the states to regulate, untouched by the fateful 1970 CSA that began Nixon's War on Drugs and spawned the DEA. As we have reported, this war against freedom was targeted at blacks and "hippies" who drove the counter-culture force demanding an end to militarism.

The pursuit of knowledge and advancement of medical research are among the many victims of the War on Drugs. Just as marijuana prohibition is now being dismantled under the juggernaut of reason, so too will the prohibition of psychedelics.

For thousands of years, cultures around the world have explored the mystical experience provided by psychedelic substances, using mescaline, ayahuasca, and magic mushrooms for religious ceremony and healing purposes. In the 1940s, western medicine began realizing the potential for psychedelics to treat addiction and psychiatric disorders. Tens of thousands of people were treated effectively, and psychedelic drugs were on the fast track to becoming mainstream medicine. But the beast of oppression reared its ugly head.

Study after study has shown that having children does not make people happier. In fact, a so-called "happiness gap" exists between people who have kids and people who don't, and parents often pay a "happiness penalty" when they have children, research has

Recently, researchers studied data from 22 countries and found that the United States has the largest happiness shortfall between parents and non-parents, even larger than the gap found in similar nations like Great Britain and Australia. And in other developed Western countries, like Norway, Finland, Sweden, Hungary and Russia, the gap didn't exist at all. In fact, sometimes parents were even happier than non-parents.

According to the Home School Legal Defense Association, the world's largest homeschool advocacy organization, the letter from the district claimed, "Under California law, a home school is not a private school.

However, it was eight years ago when a senior level court in the state concluded that state law permits homeschooling "as a species of private education." That ruling came in a case in which the court first ruled the other way and essentially ordered homeschoolers into a government-approved program. But when WND broke the story, a coalition of homeschool interests joined to ask for the judges to reconsider, which they did.

The number of homeschooled children in Wilkes County continued to increase in 2015-16, but not quite by as much as in adjoining counties and statewide.

There were 784 children enrolled in homeschools in Wilkes in the 2015-16 school year, up 7.5 percent from 729 in 2014-15. That was the first single digit increase since 7.9 percent in 2011-12.

As government officials attempt to tackle the opioid epidemic, associations advocating for nonpharmacologic approaches to pain management are launching their own campaigns to inform the general public of alternatives to prescription painkillers.

There were 18,893 deaths involving prescription opioids in the country in 2014, up 16% from 2013. Deaths involving drugs like fentanyl and tramadol increased by 79% from 2013 to 2014. The non-profit organization's findings revealed that up to 87% of all insured American employees are covered for chiropractic care.

Farmers in Nebraska, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and New York are staging something of a mechanical revolt. They're attempting to get legislation passed in their states that would enable them.

At the root of the morass is the software that helps run modern tractors and their sensors, diagnostic tools, and other high-tech elements. If farmers so much as open the metaphorical hood to check out the computers they could be violating the federal act, reports Modern Farmer.
