"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
                                             -- George Washington

"If we stuck to the Constitution as written, we would have: no federal meddling in our schools; no Federal Reserve; no U.S. membership in the UN; no gun control; and no foreign aid.

We would have no welfare for big corporations, or the "poor"; no American troops in 100 foreign countries; no NAFTA, GATT, or "fast-track"; no arrogant federal judges usurping states rights; no attacks on private property; no income tax. We could get rid of most of the cabinet departments, most of the agencies, and most of the budget."

Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom by Dr. Ron Paul

"Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens' lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons."
                                             -- Congressman Ron Paul

"The government is best which governs least."

I am not pro-homeschool, public, private, co-op, military (best money we ever spent), charter, un or free range. The way I see it, you do what ya gotta do. And I have tried them all. This year our daughter will graduate from college.

She was Classically homeschooled from the 2nd grade through high school. Her junior year in high school, on a field trip in Oxford England, she was walking with a professor and she casually mentioned how the scenery reminded her of Dante's Inferno. Later she brought up a parallel between a current event and a principle from Hitler's Mein Kampf.

Doctors often prescribe Ibuprofen to their patients, in the case of headaches, pain in the back, or a toothache.

Yet, even though these pills relieve the pain for some time, it is not permanently cured. For instance, you will wake up with the same pain every morning, leading to constant frustration and pain.

If you don't believe that the United States government is growing closer and closer to complete and total tyranny, this bit of news will hopefully change your mind.

Three years ago, Natural News reported on a German family that was fined $10,000 and had their children forcibly removed from their home. What kind of terrible crime did the parents, Uwe and Hannelore Romeike, commit? The crime of Homeschooling. That's right; the Romeike family was fined $10,000 and lost their five children because they had chosen to homeschool them.

Since I started feeding my chickens a whole grain diet in December 2011 (when they were still pullets), they've been as happy and healthy as ever. All three ladies are in peak egg production: My Barred Rock lays 6 to 7 eggs per week.

I've been getting a lot of emails lately about one of my most popular posts, Garden Betty's Homemade Whole Grain Chicken Feed . Since I started feeding my chickens a whole grain diet in December 2011 (when they were still pullets), they've been as happy and healthy as ever. All three ladies are in peak egg production: My Barred Rock lays 6 to 7 eggs per week, my Easter Egger lays 5 to 6 eggs per week, and my Cochin lays 3 to 4 eggs per week. Their feathers are soft and glossy, their wings strong and quick, their combs and wattles meaty and well-formed. They are also the most active, affectionate and sociable chickens, behaving just like my dogs. I love their little personalities!

For years, few questioned how doctors treated the emotional trauma of California's abused and neglected children - and nobody monitored how often they handed out psychiatric drugs that can turn fragile childhoods into battles with obesity...

Now, a Bay Area News Group investigation into the prescribing habits of the state's foster care doctors reveals for the first time how a fraction of those physicians has been fueling the medicating of California's most vulnerable kids. A mere 10 percent of the state's highest prescribers were responsible about 50 percent of the time when a foster child received an antipsychotic, the riskiest class of what are known as psychotropic drugs - with some of the most harmful side effects.

What I am about to tell you is something you've probably never heard or read in history books," she likes to tell audiences. I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We voted him in.

If you remember the plot of the Sound of Music, the Von Trapp family escaped over the Alps rather than submit to the Nazis. Kitty wasn't so lucky. Her family chose to stay in her native Austria. She was 10 years old, but bright and aware. And she was watching.

Christian subcultures are an entertaining phenomenon. Multiple brands of Christianity claim the same Lord and read the same Bible, and yet they promote a set of values sometimes as different as apples and orangutans.

I once heard a story about a Christian woman from the East Coast who confronted a West Coast youth-pastor, who allowed "mixed bathing" at youth events. "I can't believe any so-called Christian leader would allow boys and girls to swim together!" She expressed her concern, all the while puffing on a cigarette. The youth pastor couldn't help but smile, speechless at the irony.

While some parents cite religious and moral reasons, others say they are keeping their kids out of public schools to protect them from school-related racism.

Despite the promises of the civil rights movement, "people are starting to realize that public education in America was designed for the masses of poor, and its intent has been to trap poor people into being workers and servants. If you don't want that for your children, then you look for something else," she says. To her, the biggest flaw in public education is a lack of character education, an "absence of a moral binding," that contributes to low expectations - and lower outcomes for children of color.

Families sending their children back to schools across California face a new requirement mired in a volatile interplay of religious liberties, individual choice and government efforts to protect the public's health...

They can no longer sidestep vaccination requirements by citing their personal beliefs against immunization. California joins Mississippi and West Virginia as the only states in the nation that ban students from enrolling in public and private schools unless a doctor certifies that a child has a medical condition making vaccination too risky.

Hundreds of students who were unable to show proof of immunizations were sent home from school. A spokesperson for the Folsom-Cordova School District said that at least 145 students were sent away.

Elk Grove school district listed their number of students sent home for failing to show vaccination papers at 133. As of July 1, parents can no longer use personal or religious belief exemptions to opt their kids out of vaccinations. The spokesperson for Folsom-Cordova told krem.com, "We're working under a different game plan now," Thigpen said.
