What message are our legislators sending to voters, when they publicly admit they haven't done their job? How many bills are passed each year that policymakers haven't even bothered to read? This is disgraceful. This is called dereliction of duties and we must demand a stop to this practice.

Anyone can say they're part of Anonymous. It's the perfect cover for hackers with motives more sinister than fun and propaganda.

Could that be why private intelligence firm Stratfor was just hacked? The Operation AntiSec collaborators Anonymous and LulzSec dominated media coverage of online security through 2011, taking credit for hacks of Sony, AT&T, the UK's Serious Organised Crime Agency and News International newspapers - even though the more serious cybercriminals continued working on the money-spinners. The Stratfor hack looks like all the others. It was announced via Twitter accounts associated with Anonymous. Samples of the pilfered data were posted online as evidence. The hackers taunted the victim about its pathetic defences. And the data vandalism was dressed up as political action.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer announced Monday that she has abolished the state's Child Protective Services department and has replaced it with a new division.

The move comes in response to an internal investigation that revealed 6,000 reports of child abuse or neglect were never investigated. The Republican governor said she was ending the agency's oversight by the Department of Economic Security by executive order, saying the recent scandal "broke my heart and makes me angry." "Enough with the uninvestigated reports of abuse and neglect. Enough with the lack of transparency. And enough with the excuses," she said. Brewer praised a special team she created to investigate the problems and said more than 3,000 children have now been seen by social workers or police.

Jessie Thornton sleeps during the day and runs errands and works out during the night. "My wife, she's an ER nurse and works three 12-hour shifts, so I adjusted my schedule to be like her schedule," said Thornton.

The 64-year-old retired firefighter moved to a Surprise retirement community from Ohio. Jessie says his late hours have put him in the police spotlight. "I've been stopped 10 times in Surprise and given four tickets, it's amazing," said Thornton. His latest incident with Surprise police officers prompted Thornton to hire a lawyer with plans to sue the department. Around 11 p.m. Thornton, according to Surprise Police Department paperwork, was pulled over for crossing the white line in his lane. "He (the officer) walked up and he said 'I can tell you're driving DUI by looking in your eyes,'" said Thornton. The 64-year-old says his eyes could have been red because he had just left LA Fitness where he was in the pool swimming.

HEAR ME OUT: Is the state doing enough to protect children from potentially dangerous parents? There's a debate on whether or not the current system with CPS is ideal.

The State uses Child Protective Services employees to monitor potentially dangerous situations. CPS states on its website that the organization "receives, screens and investigates allegations of child abuse and neglect." Employees with CPS have recently been criticized for not doing enough to protect children who have died while in the care of their legal guardian or a foster home.

Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman says his office received the complaint from the Belle Police Department last week.

It almost sounds like the makings of a joke -- an atheist, a muslim and the Mechanicsburg Halloween parade. But non-believers aren't laughing about an attack and insist what's really frightening is the way a district judge ruled on it.

The Atheists of Central Pennsylvania decided to walk in the Mechanicsburg Halloween parade. There was a zombie Pope and a zombie Muhammed. On YouTube, you can catch a scary moment. It's dark and distorted, but a Muslim man comes off the curb extremely offended at Muhammed being depicted in this way. "He grabbed me, choked me from the back, and spun me around to try to get my sign off that was wrapped around my neck," said Ernie Perce, who donned the costume.

The State Department is limiting participation in a troubled exchange program and putting a moratorium on new businesses becoming sponsors for thousands of foreign college students who use the program to visit the United States.

The department says future participation will be limited to the "2011 actual participant levels." Foreign students working at a plant that serves the Hershey company walked out this summer in protest of working conditions and wages.

Members of the local law community are reacting to how Penn State's administration handled allegations that former football Coach Jerry Sandusky sexually abused 8 boys.

Under current law, a mandated reporter in a schools setting is required to report the suspicion of child abuse to a school administrator. However, that administrator has the power to decide whether or not the claim warrants getting law enforcement and other child advocacy groups involved.
