President Obama has had an up and down relationship with the Supreme Court. He publicly admonished them during his 2010 State of the Union address over their Citizens United decision, but sang their praises when they upheld Obamacare by ruling it a tax.

He may not like future rulings from the Court on Obamacare though, as they are considering the Hobby Lobby case regarding the abortion mandate provision of Obamacare and how it infringes on religious liberty. They may also soon be considering a Constitutional challenge of the healthcare law on the grounds that it violated the 'Origination Clause' by being introduced in the Senate instead of the House, where tax bills are required to begin. Obama doesn't have many fans on the Supreme Court either, with even his ultra-liberal nominees to the Court ruling against him at times. Justice Scalia has been especially critical of Obama, calling him a "self-interested President" and decrying his continuous power grabs.

Aspartame-the main sweetener for diet soda-is one of the most dangerous ingredients used in our food supply, causing seizures and a host of other health issues.

As concerns about health epidemics plague the nation, demand and sales of diet soda have plunged as consumers try to make better choices. As we reported yesterday, aspartame-the main sweetener for diet soda-is one of the most dangerous ingredients used in our food supply, causing seizures and a host of other health issues. In a new study done over ten years and sampling 60,000 women, it was shown that women who drink two or more diet drinks a day have much higher cardiovascular disease rates and are more likely to die from the disease.

A police officer in Oklahoma has been accused of waving a gun around in a family's back yard and shooting their pet dog.

The entire incident was witnessed by multiple people, including neighbors and small children. The police were reportedly told not to enter the property, because the family did not want the dogs to anger the police. Unfortunately, the police entered into the family's fenced in yard uninvited and with an aggressive posture, waving guns around, according to neighbors. Dog owner Cindy Wickham and her two young nephews were in her back yard when police entered and shot one of her dogs.

The National Security Agency is collecting millions of images of people through its international surveillance network to be implemented in a number of other facial recognition programs, according to documents leaked by Edward Snowden.

Thanks to rapid advances being made in the field of facial recognition technology, the NSA is much better equipped to "exploit the flood of images included in emails, text messages, social media, video conferences and other communications," according to an article in the New York Times, co-written by Laura Poitras, who, together with Glen Greenwald, are the only two journalists to have received the leaked NSA documents. The NSA has the capacity to intercept "millions of images per day," as well as some 55,000 "facial recognition quality images." This latest milestone in US intelligence gathering, which goes a long way to putting the final touches on the much-feared Orwellian nightmare, gives the US spy agency "tremendous untapped potential," according to the 2011 documents.

Like anything else relating to raising backyard chickens, there seem to be lots of different opinions about feeding eggshells back your chickens.

If they do not have enough calcium to create the shell, it will result in very thin-shelled eggs and calcium will start being leached from the hen's bones. You can buy commercially packaged crushed oyster shell, or you can save money by processing your eggshells to feed back to your hens.

Oil pulling is a process of swishing an edible oil around the mouth for between 10 and 20 minutes, ideally upon awakening, for detoxification purposes.

Its origins lie in the Ayurveda, the ancient healing system of India, and countless people from all backgrounds swear by it. In fact, if one believes the online reports written by those with first-hand experience of oil pulling, there doesn't seem to be any condition that it can't at least improve. The historical and present understanding behind oil pulling is encapsulated in the ancient axiom, "all diseases start in the mouth." Therefore, any practice that prevents problems in the mouth should, in theory, prevent (and possibly even treat) diseases that lie elsewhere. But does oil pulling actually prevent oral problems in the first place? Several studies show that it does.

Across 17 states in India there are a group of organic seed-collecting activists who have decided to take Monsanto and other Big Ag and chemical companies down in this interminable fight the old-fashioned way - by beating them at their own game.

The organization refers to GMOs as "biopiracy" and aims to rejuvenate the indigenous farming practices that have been passed down for multiple generations, often for more than thousands of years. The desire to teach people of their food rights and alternate means to staying healthy and well fed in the face of climate change without the use of genetically altered seeds and the herbicides, like Round Up, which are utilized to grow them.

New York has a fracking waste problem, and we need your help to address it!

The state currently allows the use of brine from conventional, low-volume hydraulic fracturing (fracking) and gas storage in New York to be spread on our roadways for de-icing, dust control and road stabilization. And despite New York's de facto moratorium on high-volume fracking, our landfills have received more than 300,000 tons of this waste from Pennsylvania, some of which makes its way into our wastewater treatment facilities.

Cops have a massive incentive to bust people for pot. Here's how to fight back.

According to the ACLU, marijuana arrests account for over half of all drug arrests-and 88% of those charges are for simple possession. Because of decades-old grant programs, local precincts are showered with money from the federal government if they keep their arrest numbers high. Police have a built-in financial incentive to focus their arrests on low-level drug offenders to fatten their statistics, especially because these are some of the easiest arrests to make. This is a major reason why marijuana arrest rates have gone up in recent years, and why they make up the majority of all drug detentions nationally. If you're a cannabis aficionado who chooses to indulge in the herb, you're a walking dollar sign to the police. Your arrest can directly lead to more bullets, armor, assault rifles and other toys, and may even be used to justify higher wages. You're more useful to them imprisoned or cited than free, and they will try their hardest to manipulate you into giving them a reason to take you in. They can even make false threats to trick you into waiving your rights.
