Dressing pet chickens in sweaters has become something of a fad in backyards recently, a trend not entirely different from the pet rock of the 1970s- silly, cute and unnecessary.

Photos of hens wearing sweaters are being shared on social media channels like the common cold in a kindergarten class, photos that no doubt fuel a practice that ought not be encouraged. The average chicken does NOT NEED a sweater. I am first in line to encourage the proper care and keeping of pet chickens and can anthropomorphize my pets with the best of 'em, but the truth is, sweaters do not help backyard chickens and if I believed they did, I would use them and advocate their use. While it's fine to engage in a little silliness with our chickens from time-to-time for a quick photo op, sweaters are not only unnecessary, they can be dangerous.

Princeton, OR - On Saturday, multiple armed 'militiamen' took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge HQ to protest the sentence handed down to two Oregon ranchers accused of arson.

Aside from being thrown in jail for a second time, the Hammonds are upset because they allege no crime was ever committed. "They called and got permission to light the fire... We usually called the interagency fire outfit - a main dispatch - to be sure someone wasn't in the way or that weather wouldn't be a problem," said Dwight's wife Susan. The Hammonds say they were engaging in prescribed burns to keep the land healthy and productive. And, they assert that the Bureau of Land Management also conducts these burns. The Hammonds lit a fire on their own property that spread to public land. No one was injured, no property was destroyed and the Hammond extinguished the fire themselves, according to the Bundys. The court even ruled that the fires actually had a positive impact on the land.

Many pet guardians don't realize the potential for exposing their four-legged family member to environmental toxins like pesticides and herbicides. People also don't realize that after they apply a product to their lawn or garden.

A pesticide known as 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, or "2,4-D", was developed during World War II. It was one of two active ingredients in the notorious defoliant known as Agent Orange, used during the Vietnam War to destroy forest cover for our enemies, as well as their food crops. A tremendous amount of herbicide was sprayed over millions of acres of land in Vietnam from 1961 to 1972.

This generation stands on the precipice of becoming the most failing gatekeepers for following generations, in all of human history ... if we choose not to act, and quickly! ~ Roger Landry (TLB)

Geo-engineering or weather modification is not a myth, a lie or a conspiracy theory. It is in fact a painful and deadly reality. One need only look up on any given day to see large jets crisscrossing the sky from horizon to horizon, leaving chemical or particulate swaths across the brilliant blue heavens, that quickly transform to a putrid gray blanket, as the trails spread out and merge.

Since China's capital city Beijing issued its first ever air pollution red alert last week, sales of bottled Canadian fresh mountain air to Chinese customers have soared.

The red alert over air pollution was issued by Beijing authorities on December 7, lasting three days, amid the second bout of bad air this month. During this time PM2.5 levels - tiny hazardous airborne particles - exceeded 900 micrograms per cubic metre.

"Extreme weather and climate events" are linked to climate change while no mention is made of government programs deliberately aimed at modifying the weather and inducing earthquakes, drought, rain, and tsunamis.

The modern weather modification program, at least in the US, is over 70 years old. Public service announcements printed in newspapers back in the 1960s warned of government intention to modify the weather. Life Magazine, back in the 50s and 60s, continually covered US weather modification programs, including Project Stormfury which redirected and reduced hurricane intensity from 1962 to 1983. The IPCC's continuing and absolute silence on such programs is deafening.

There's no way to work in these waters, where you are literally neck deep in feces in some places, and not be afraid of the health effects.

According to the AP's 2013 report, "In the neon green waters around the site of the future Olympic Park, the average fecal pollution rate is 78 times that of the Brazilian government's 'satisfactory' limit - and 195 times the level considered safe in the U.S."

More than 300 whales are found washed up in one of the largest die-offs on record.

Vreni Haussermann of the Huinay Scientific Centre was one of the scientists who made the discovery. "It was an apocalyptic sight. I'd never seen anything like it," Ms Haussermann said. Scientists launched an expedition to count the animals after 20 sei whales were reported dead in April.
