A journalist recently exposed Obama's hypocrisy to his face during a press conference for criticizing Bush over power grabs.

It's no secret that President Obama has made unprecedented power grabs to draw more legislative power into the executive branch, the likes of which have never been seen thus far in American history. The president has abused executive orders to bypass Congress and create laws favoring his agenda, and is attempting to do so once again with amnesty. What makes this situation slightly comical is that when Obama was running for president, he slammed George W. Bush for attempting to bring more power into the executive branch instead of going through Congress, stating he planned on reversing that trend.

New study confirms homeschoolers outperform public schoolers and unschoolers

A Canadian study shared in a press release from Concordia University yesterday confirms what American researchers have known for several years: Homeschool students score better on standardized tests than public school students.

This new research, conducted by Concordian and Mount Allison Universities, added another twist, however, and compared homeschoolers with a structured curriculum with those who use an "unschooling" approach. The former were found wanting. As early as the mid 1990s, Arizona legislators had discovered that homeschoolers typically scored in the 70-85 percentile on the then-required Iowa test, while the state school pupils averaged around 40-50th percentile. This discrepancy held true for years as Arizona educators tried out different assessments.

The total federal debt of the U.S. government has now increased more than $7 trillion during the slightly more than five and a half years Barack Obama has been president.

That is more than the debt increased under all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined, and it is more debt than was accumulated in the first 227 years of this nation's existence--from 1776 through 2003. The total federal debt first passed the $7-trillion mark on Jan. 15, 2004, after President George W. Bush had been in office almost three years.

Last year, NYPD Officer Darren Ilardi ran over 24-year-old Ryo Oyamada with his police car, killing the young student outside of a deli near the intersection of 40th Avenue and 10th Street, in Queensbridge, New York.

After the accident, Ilardi intentionally destroyed evidence and began a year long cover-up which has been revealed in a recent lawsuit. It is also highly possible that Ilardi is not the only officer who participated in the cover-up. According to the lawsuit, officers who responded to the scene failed to conduct a proper investigation. The responding officers dispersed the eyewitnesses without getting any testimony, they failed to measure skid marks or to check Ilardi's cellphone and dash-cam footage to see if he was distracted while driving. Additionally, the police report was heavily redacted and it seems that surveillance video which was taken near the scene of the crime miraculously disappeared.

The style of the meme is to take individuals, have them explain how their country is able to accomplish some national goal, then state that it's the "opposite of what America does." None of the quotes are real, and indeed the Facebook page that creates them acknowledged this: "the Opposite of America memes were created by US Uncut and have reached 30 million people. The reason you know the quotes are fake is because the series is so popular-it's not too different than the Onion. We aren't trying to fool anyone and we don't use fake quotes on anything else."

Nullification opponents would have you believe that withdrawing from any federal program will unleash a tsunami of chaos. But when North Carolina recently did just that, the end result was more like a beautiful day on the beach.

When the strategy of nullifying federal programs through state non-participation and non-cooperation first started gaining traction, opponents attacked, arguing that states couldn't legally refuse to participate. But the legal truth forced them to abandon that argument. Under the well-established anti-commandeering doctrine, even the federal courts agree that the federal government can't force states to enforce federal mandates or implement federal programs. States can legally opt out. That reality forced opponents of nullification through non-participation to fall back on fear-mongering. Even when conceding that a state can legally refuse to participate, opponents claim that withdrawing from various federal social programs will cause havoc and harm, especially to those most in need. But what if the opposite were to prove true? What if withdrawing from federal programs actually benefits state residents? Recent evidence from North Carolina indicates that might be the case.

Why are parents being punished for giving children independence?

"I'm totally dumbfounded by this whole situation," says Nicole Gainey. She's not the only one. The Port St. Lucie, Florida, mom was arrested on Saturday for letting her 7-year-old son, Dominic, walk alone - in the daytime, with a cellphone - a half-mile to a local park. "I honestly didn't think I was doing anything wrong," she says. "I was letting him go play." During his approximately 10-minute walk, the boy passed by a public pool, where a patron asked him where his mother was and other questions. As he told a local news station, "I got scared and ran off to the park, and that's when they called the cops." Police picked up the boy at the park, brought him home and arrested his mother for felony child neglect.
