Popquiz, hotshots*: You have public-employee unions that force public-sector employees to pay dues and make the state act as their bagman.

The state refuses to collect dues and changes the law to make dues and union membership entirely voluntary. What do people do? That's easy...they quit paying the dues...

More than four decades after the first model preschool interventions, there is an emerging consensus that high-quality early-childhood education can improve a child's economic and social outcomes over the long term.

Publicly funded kindergarten is available to virtually all children in the U.S. at age five, but access to preschool opportunities for children four years old and younger remains uneven across regions and socioeconomic groups. Parents with financial means have the option of enrolling their child in a private program at their own expense.

You may already know that if you are arrested, the officer may be obligated to read you certain rights. They're commonly known as Miranda warnings.

In fact, you may be able to recite a few of these well-known rights: "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law..." But beyond that, you may not know what the arresting officers are supposed to say, and what that legally means for you. Just a couple years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a series of decisions that modified the rules about Miranda rights and warnings (named after another Supreme Court case, Miranda v. Arizona, in 1966). So here's a good opportunity to review what police are required to say.

I love online shopping, and I have the shoes to prove it. In addition to my shopping habit, I also travel abroad frequently and use my credit card for business. So protecting my credentials is crucial.

I secure my PC, stick to reputable retailers and monitor my credit card account. And this generally has kept me safe, until just recently... Just after Easter, I got the alert on my Outlook calendar that reminds me to review my credit card accounts-both for fraud and my own personal overspending. I checked my account and found that my card was used to purchase about €700 worth of goods in the Manchester, England. Here's the problem: I haven't been in the United Kingdom for more than a year and a half.

Soon after Texas governor Rick Perry announced his presidential campaign, a few websites, mostly liberal, compiled a list of the constitutional amendments he has at various times touted.

He has spoken favorably about amendments to end the lifetime tenure of federal judges, to allow supermajorities of Congress to overturn Supreme Court decisions, to repeal the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Amendments (which established, respectively, the income tax and the direct election of senators), to limit federal spending, to define marriage in American law as the union of a man and a woman, and to prohibit abortion. Liberals responded, either explicitly or implicitly, with a comment that was partly a question and partly a taunt: Why are conservatives, who place so much emphasis on fidelity to the Constitution, so keen on changing it?

Federal courts affirm the American Gestapo's power to sign their own search paperwork to bypass the Constitutional requirement of a judge-signed search warrant.

Federal courts have ruled that law enforcement officials may simply sign their own documents demanding the surrender of documents and information from virtually every company in America and those companies must comply. This can be done with the long-standing requirement of a Judge verifying the Gestapo has probable cause and signing a search warrant giving the Gestapo permission to conduct said search. It does not matter whether law enforcement is seeking you energy bill, access to your personal email or even the password to your social networking account, the Gestapo issue what is known as an administrative subpoena to virtually any company or third party and the served entity must comply.

When the average person hears the word "anarchy," his mind immediately fills with misconceptions and false assumptions.

Voluntaryists often have to spend more time explaining all the things that "anarchy" does NOT mean, than they do explaining what it does mean. Hopefully this video will help with that. (Special thanks to Poxodd for the awesome animation.)

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) wants to get rid of the U.S. Federal Reserve System - an issue that he has made the centerpiece of his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

Paul, and like-minded libertarians, think the Fed's constant intervention in our economy leads to disasters like the housing collapse, banks taking on too much risk, and the debasement of the dollar. Is Paul right? Or is he off his rocker?
