Questions are being asked of a North Carolina police department after an officer in the city of Durham testified that its common practice for cops there to make up excuses to illegally enter, then search, the homes of local residents.

Durham Police Dept. Chief Jose Lopez now says he's investigating claims that his officers may have lied in order to trick home owners and tenants into letting law enforcement officials look into area residences under false pretenses. Reports of the alleged practice first surfaced in late May when Officer A.B. Beck testified in court, according to Indy Week, that he told a local woman that he had to inspect her home because the Durham PD had received a 911 call concerning that address. Once Beck entered, he discovered marijuana and drafted charges

NSA Whistleblower William Binney has made the startling claim that the NSA is recording the audio of at least 80 percent of Americans' telephone calls.

The NSA acknowledged in 2013, after repeated and explicit denials, that it was recording telephone metadata, but it still denies it is keeping the audio of any American's phone calls. "At least 80% of fibre-optic cables globally go via the US," Binney told the London Guardian July 10. "This is no accident and allows the US to view all communication coming in. At least 80% of all audio calls, not just metadata, are recorded and stored in the US. The NSA lies about what it stores."

Michigan law requires public officials to hold formal meetings out in the open and allow citizens to attend.

Despite this requirement, the University of Michigan Board of Regents routinely conducts its affairs behind close doors, away from public scrutiny. It is assumed that the regents and the president actually debate matters at these secret meetings. At the (sham) public meetings, the regents almost always vote unanimously in favor or against whatever proposals are on the table-with little debate-lending credibility to the charge that the real decisions are being made elsewhere. In the last year, the regents voted on 116 public matters, and only 8 of those times were there any dissenting votes.

At least 80 percent of all audio calls are gathered and stored by the NSA, whistleblower William Binney has revealed. The former code-breaker says the spy agency's ultimate aim is no less than total population control.

The National Security Agency lies about what it stores, said William Binney, one of the highest profile whistleblowers to ever emerge from the NSA, at a conference in London organized by the Center for Investigative Journalism on July 5. Binney left the agency shortly after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center because he was disgusted at the organizations move towards public surveillance. "At least 80 percent of fiber-optic cables globally go via the US," Binney said. "This is no accident and allows the US to view all communication coming in. At least 80 percent of all audio calls, not just metadata, are recorded and stored in the US. The NSA lies about what it stores."

College campuses often seem culturally biased against non-liberals. But in some cases, political bias so deeply and obviously pervades official campus policy that no one can even defend it when challenged.

On that front, the Young Americans for Liberty declared victory in their legal battle with the University of Michigan after administrators agreed to pay out $14,000 and revise discriminatory funding policies. Last year, YAL asked the university for $1,000 to bring anti-affirmative action activist Jennifer Gratz to speak on campus. UM collects mandatory fees from all students and uses them to subsidize events hosted by recognized student groups. But the university has a stated policy of declining to fund events deemed "political." Though the Gratz event was merely a lecture on the history of the affirmative action issue-and was open to all students-UM considered it a political event and did not provide funds.

Silicon Valley resident Yasir Afifi recently discovered an FBI tracking device on his car when he took it for an oil change.

Alarmed and curious about what it might be, Yasir posted photos of the device online, asking members of reddit whether it was a bomb, or possibly an FBI tracking device. In a short amount of time Yasir learned that it was in fact a GPS tracking device, and it was made by a company that only sells to government agencies. Days later he was able to learn the direct source of the tracking device, when he was visited by a large group of FBI agents who had seen his posts online, and wanted their device back.

Yeah, well, we've noticed you've had a few in your day.

This video is sixty-six seconds of facepalm-worthy hilarity from a president who claims: "I'm not interested in photo-ops; I'm in interested in solving a problem." Right, and a fat kid's not interested in candy. Enjoy.

Critics are pointing out a new possible power grab by the Environmental Protection Agency, which has reportedly claimed it has the power to garnish the wages of those who owe fines for environmental violations.

Judge Andrew Napolitano said on Fox and Friends this morning this is illegal and "blatantly violates the Constitution." The judge said the EPA has repeatedly tried to give itself more authority and this is only the latest example. He explained that it can be stopped with a bill by the House and Senate, and added that President Obama would not be able to veto it. Napolitano believes even Democrats would get on board with blocking the EPA from garnishing wages.

Ironically, it was independence day in McAlester, Oklahoma when Blake and his wife Britni were stopped for the absurd 'offense' of a license plate bulb not shining.

Blake is no dummy and knows extortion when he sees it, so he peacefully resisted. "Britni and I have more time than money right now. So if he wants to pull me over for something ridiculous, I'd rather make him waste two hours of time filling out a police report stating he arrested me for a license plate light bulb...On the 4th of July."
