Ron Paul announced earlier today that he will not be running for reelection to his House seat, focusing instead on his 2012 Republican presidential campaign.

The torch will in all likelihood be passed to his son, Sen. Rand Paul, who released this statement: "History will record the legislative record of Ron Paul as an extraordinary one - perhaps unparalleled. There probably has never been a more consistent believer in limited government in Congress. America deserves a statesman like Ron Paul as her president, a man I am proud to call my father."

This morning the House rejected an amendment that would have made it easier to unionize air and rail workers.

The amendment was supported by the Obama administration and the labor unions. Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Ohio) proposed allowing a National Mediation Board (NMB) ruling that abstentions would no longer be counted as votes against unionization to stand. While it sounds reasonable in theory, in practice it allows unions to be formed with as little worker support as possible.

Our government in Washington has made $88.6 trillion in promises it cannot afford to keep.

By some reliable estimates, the national debt will become unsustainable by 2037. Social Security expenditures are beginning to exceed payroll tax revenues. Medicare has been in this condition since 2008. The annual federal budget deficit is almost as large the early Clinton-era federal budget. Some state governments are, pace the columnist E.J. Dionne, literally bankrupt.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has proposed a budget that will cut $500 billion in federal spending in one year. Important caveat: It has not to my knowledge been independently scored.)

Paul would abolish the Departments of Education, Energy, and Housing and Urban Development, completely zeroing out federal housing spending. The Affordable Housing Program, the Commission on Fine Arts, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Endowment of Arts, the National Endowment for Humanities, the State Justice Institute, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission are all eliminated. The Smithsonian is privatized. The defense budget is also cut, but the 6 percent decrease is less than the reductions in most domestic spending. Most other discretionary spending is rolled back to 2008 levels, in a single year rather than over a lengthy period of time.

More of the same. A LOT more of the same. In fact, every negative aspect of the Bush Administration has come back with a vengeance in the presidency of Barack H. Obama.

The election of President Obama was in no small part, a referendum on the administration of George W. Bush, and his victory was interpreted as a sound rebuke to eight years of open ended warfare, a vast and growing police state, the destruction of civil liberties, disregard for the Constitution, unchecked executive power, lies and broken promises, hypocrisy and arrogance, a lack of transparency in government, out-of-control federal spending, fever-pitch fearmongering, rampant corruption, and some really stupid gaffes. But what have we gotten instead?

President Bush once declared: "How would I know what's unconstitutional'"

The silence from the Republican courtesans in the media is deafening. The Hannitys, Limbaughs, Malkins and the rest of the Republican lapdogs will no doubt soon be rushing to offer their defenses of the ever-innocent president, who just can't seem to stop himself from inadvertantly expanding the power of the central state.

More than one sage has expressed an opinion that Hillary is only lying in wait, not unlike a crocodile lurking at a waterhole, before announcing an unexpected bid for the presidency. I disagree.

In my humble opinion, there are a number of reasons why the Lizard Queen will choose to sit on the sidelines in 2004.

No, I'm completely serious. I know.

Mike Malloy, that bastion of bountiful braininess to whom no one would listen if Larry O'Connor didn't post his remarks on Breitbart.tv, says Andrew Breitbart is responsible for Occupy Oakland violence.

Here's one the mainstream media isn't going to tell you: County sheriffs in Wyoming are demanding that federal agents actually abide by the Constitution, or face arrest. Even better, a U.S. Federal District Court agreed.

The court decision was the result of a suit against both the BATF and the IRS by Mattis and other members of the Wyoming Sheriff's Association. The suit in the Wyoming federal court district sought restoration of the protections enshrined in the United States Constitution and the Wyoming Constitution...

Voddie, because I have a great respect for you and your opinion I would really like to know why you are voting for Ron Paul? I have not liked some of the things I have heard him say and I am wondering if I missed something?" -Pamela Wolfe

Since posting a passing comment on my Facebook fan page about Ron Paul, I have been inundated with questions and concerns about my support of the Texas Congressman in the current Republican Primary race. In one of my many political posts (frequently, I post videos, news articles, etc., in an effort to show the importance and influence of worldview), I simply stated that I voted for Dr. Paul in the last election, and planned to vote for him again. The result was hundreds of comments; more than any other post I've ever submitted. Most of the comments were positive. However, several were extremely negative. Some vowed never to follow, or support my ministry any further, while others simply communicated their dismay. Still others, like today's questioner, just asked honest questions. As a result, I've decided to explain my position, and this seemed like the best place to do it.
