A Philadelphia blogger's "Kill Mitt Romney" Facebook page has drawn the notice of the U.S. Secret Service, officials said.

Joshua Scott Albert, 26, whose inflammatory and profanity-laced "Staph Meal" blogs attacked chefs and their restaurants until a lawsuit from noted chefs Georges Perrier and Shola Olunloyo caused Albert's identity to be known, is back with Facebook pages titled "Kill John McNesby, the president of the local Fraternal Order of Police; "Kill Seth Williams," Philadelphia's district attorney, and "I Support Chancier McFarland & Rafael Jones," references to men charged with the killing of a police officer, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Thursday.

An elected judge in Texas has accused President Obama of planning a United Nations takeover of the United States if he wins a second term.

In an interview on a radio program, Tom Head, who also oversees emergency planning in Lubbock County, promised to get "in front of their personnel carriers," CNN reported. Head claimed the president and his "minions" have filed executive orders allowing the takeover. "Regardless of whether the Republicans take over the Senate, which I hope they do, he is going to make the United States Congress and he's going to make the Constitution irrelevant. He's got his czars in place that don't answer to anybody," Head said.

A name and focus change may be in store for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the bureau's acting director said.

B. Todd Jones, who doubles as the U.S. attorney in Minneapolis, said he sees a "sweet spot" for the agency in tackling violent crime in big cities, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. Jones confirmed ATF is also considering changing its name to the Violent Crime Bureau. Jones took over last year as the bureau's fifth acting director in the past six years. Since then he has tightened controls over undercover investigations following the flawed operation known as Fast and Furious that allowed suspected smugglers to buy thousands of firearms.

Newly released e-mails offer details about the involvement of the White House in a loan program to help clean-energy companies, officials said Thursday.

Documents provided by investigators for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee show White House aides asked U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu to brief President Obama on the status of the program on June 27, 2011, two months before the collapse of the Solyndra solar energy company, The Washington Post reported Thursday.

New rules will cut red tape for U.S. doctors, hospitals and health plans and save up to $9 billion over the next 10 years, a governmental official says.

Kathleen Sebelius, secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, said a regulation that goes into effect Friday provides operating rules for making healthcare claim payments electronically among doctor's offices, hospitals and health insurance plans. "These new rules will cut red tape, save money and ensure doctors spend more time seeing patients and less time filling out forms," Sebelius said in a statement.

Ron Paul's supporters in Louisiana filed a challenge to the state's Republican delegation to the national convention, sparking insults from both sides.

At issue are the 17 delegates secured by Paul's showing against candidates Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney in Louisiana's sparsely attended April 28 state caucuses, the New Orleans, La., Times-Picayune reported Monday. The 21-page challenge was filed last week with the Republican National Committee's Committee on Contests by attorneys retained by the Paul campaign to deal with delegate challenges in Louisiana, Massachusetts and Oregon, and compares Louisiana Republican Chairman Roger Villere to a North Korean despot, who, it claims, "attempted to impose anti-democratic convention rules that were without any authority."

Supporters of California's Proposition 8, which bans gay marriage, said Tuesday they've taken their case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

ProtectMarriage.com said it filed a petition to the high court asking it to reverse an appeals court panel that struck down Prop 8. California voters approved Prop 8, the California Marriage Protection Act, in 2008. It overturned a ruling by the California Supreme Court, which itself had overturned an earlier but similar proposition as unconstitutional. But a federal judge declared Prop 8 unconstitutional, and three-judge appeals court panel in San Francisco agreed 2-1.

Sixteen Republicans elected to represent Massachusetts at the Republican convention have formally challenged the state party's decision to oust them.

In a letter to the national committee, the 16 delegates - all supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul - said the Massachusetts Republican Party "changed the rules" when it disqualified them, the Boston Globe reported Monday. The delegates were elected in April caucuses when they defeated many of Romney's chosen delegates.

The U.S. House Thursday approved a bill that would largely prevent President Barack Obama from creating new federal regulations for the remainder of his term.

The bill would prevent the administration from imposing major new regulations for two years, or until unemployment falls to 6 percent. It would also bar the White House from issuing major new rules between Election Day and Inauguration Day if Obama does not win re-election to a second term, The Hill reported. Thirteen Democrats joined Republicans in voting for the Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act, which passed 245-172.
