There are few things as difficult as the physical and emotional implications of a terminal cancer diagnosis. But even worse is that most of these patients go on to receive unnecessary medical treatments.

Dying in a hospital, hooked up to tubes is not only unnecessary, but often kills the patient faster. A new study from Japan just concluded that terminal cancer patients who choose to die at home, live longer. Patients who Died at Home Lived about 45% Longer

The takeover of the American food supply by genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, was done without the consent of the public, and now most of the country is still coming to grips with the fact that 70-80% of its food products contain GMO ingredients.

Several news sources have reported on the private diets of many of the top politicians from across the political spectrum, and - surprise, surprise! - it really does seem as if there's nothing new in the way these politicians go about their business (saying one thing in public and doing the opposite behind our backs).

Even as the United States government continues to push for the use of more chemically-intensive and corporate-dominated farming methods such as GMOs and monoculture-based crops, the United Nations is once against sounding the alarm.

According to the new UN report, major changes are needed in our food, agriculture and trade systems, with a shift toward local small-scale farmers and food systems recommended. Diversity of farms, reducing the use of fertilizer and other changes are desperately needed according to the report, which was highlighted in this article from the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy.

Amarillo Police Department has fired a school liaison officer, subsequently arrested on child sex charges. Donald Ray Sanders Jr., was arrested Tuesday on a warrant of sexual assault of a child, a Randall County news release said.

A complaint said Sanders sexually assaulted a female minor in July 2004 and admitted committing the offense to a Randall County officer during the investigation. On Sept. 14, APD Chief Robert Taylor received word Sanders was the subject of a criminal investigation conducted by the Randall County Sheriff's Office, police said, and Sanders was immediately placed on administrative leave. An internal APD investigation resulted in Sanders' termination on Monday, police said.

Police in Anaheim take my "I've never been shot at while reporting on U.S. soil" virginity.

Police using less-lethal rounds fired on me while I was photographing an anti-police brutality protest in Anaheim, CA for my book. Protesters had gathered outside the Anaheim City Hall Tuesday night to protest police who shot and killed unarmed 25 year-old Manuel Diaz. Right before the incident, I was standing on a well-lit, main drag, with my camera clearly in hand and with another journalist, Tim Pool. After yelling "shit", I ducked for cover between two U-Haul trucks, where I remained for several minutes as projectiles whizzed by me on both sides.

America is an Obamanation!

The object of the game is to destroy American capitalism by having the government take over everything!

Tokens include a bus, a teleprompter, a sprig of arugula and a waffle iron. Wanna play? No??? Too bad, you're already playing... and quite frankly, in this game, nobody wins!

Barack Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos.

Barack Obama is my college classmate (Columbia University, class of '83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below. Taken individually they're alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival.

America's most urgent home-front problem went entirely unaddressed at both the Democratic and Republican conventions. This is very bad news for the plebiscite for billions of reasons.

Even in the early days of the welfare state, Daniel Patrick Moynihan mentioned the danger that it would destroy marriage. Today, perhaps half of marriages are aborted before they happen, and another half are terminated midstream, because federal expenditures (and pass-through funding requirements imposed on states) entitle everything but marriage -- and at the direct expense of marriage.

As Election Day 2004 approaches, there has been the inevitable talk in the media about possible fraud: illegals voting, felons voting, dead people voting, minorities not voting, etc.

One side denying some the right to vote and the other side letting some vote as often as they like. While that type of fraud is despicable and must be prevented, the election fraud that I'm talking about would be the election of John Kerry. If it should happen, it would constitute the greatest fraud ever foisted on the American public.

I was skeptical when I saw a comment on Michelle Malkin’s website which suggested that the Washington Post changed their headline on a story that’s critical of Obama’s stupid new Attack Watch site.

Turns out the commenter is exactly right. See the screenshots below. Here’s a shot of the original headline, picked up by the automated news aggregation site Memeorandum. It clearly says Obama’s new site is a laughing stock of the internet.
