When you leave the polls today, don't throw out that "I Voted" sticker -- it could be your ticket to a free meal or half-price haircut.

To encourage people to vote, several businesses -- including restaurants, coffee shops, salons and bars -- are doling out freebies and discounts on election day, despite some concerns about whether such promotions are legal.

Who needs Molotov when we've got Alinski?

Barack Obama is a Fabian socialist. I should know; I was raised by one. My Grandfather worked as a union machinist for Ingersoll Rand (nyse: IR - news - people ) during the day. In the evenings he tended bar and read books. After his funeral, I went back home and started working my way through his library, starting with T.W. Arnold's The Folklore of Capitalism. This was my introduction to the Fabian socialists. Fabians believed in gradual nationalization of the economy through manipulation of the democratic process. Breaking away from the violent revolutionary socialists of their day, they thought that the only real way to effect "fundamental change" and "social justice" was through a mass movement of the working classes presided over by intellectual and cultural elites.

Even though Hawaii officials now claim to have verified the authenticity of Sen. Barack Obama's birth certificate - in hopes of ending widespread speculation - it turns out there is still reason for serious questioning.

Gov. Linda Lingle instructed the Hawaii Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to Obama's original birth certificate. Lingle's letter to WND made clear that the original doctor-generated and hospital-released birth certificate on file with the state's health department would be released to the press if Obama so requested - but to date the candidate has made no such request.

A lawsuit filed by Democratic attorney Philip Berg alleging that Sen. Barack Obama is ineligible to be president was dismissed by a federal judge yesterday on grounds that Berg lacks standing to bring the lawsuit.

In a 34-page memorandum that accompanied the court order, the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick concludes that ordinary citizens can't sue to ensure that a presidential candidate actually meets the constitutional requirements of the office.

Gather

I have read many posts on Gather and on the web in general about the politics of Obama and McCain. Unfortunately, there's something that many supporters of both candidates have in common: a total disregard and disrespect for others' opinions.

It's incredibly sad that so many people have turned to bashing one another in an attempt to be heard. Just because someone in the opposing 'side' doesn't agree with their thoughts, they feel surely the other person will see their point of view and agree with it, if they can just explain it often enough or harshly enough. When that doesn't happen, the fangs come out.

As November elections approach, homeschoolers should try to find out the positions of the candidates on the issues of most importance to parents.

NHELD has compiled a short list of suggested questions. What is your position on compulsory public pre-school (universal pre-school) for infants and toddlers?

School board races are not often one-issue fights. Typically, candidates tend to quarrel over a combination of issues, including educational ideologies, funding priorities and labor relations.

But the battle for four of five seats on the Soquel Union Elementary School District board -- one that could completely reshape the panel -- will turn, for the most part, on a single, long-smoldering controversy: Whether to build a preschool at Jade Street Park.

Here's Obama-Biden's plan - which only offers daytime adoption.

Barack Obama wants to educate your child beginning as early as the age of "zero." Mom's and Dads out there - is that what you want?... and what does it mean that "early childhood education" begins at zero years old?

The mask is off. The pretense over. After decades of pretending they're not biased leftward, even though everyone else knew it, America's "mainstream media" have finally, during 2008, dropped the façade of fairness and impartiality.

The New York Times publishes Barack Obama's op-ed on Iraq policy, but refuses to run McCain's op-ed. At the same time, all three network's news anchors tag along with Obama like groupies on his overseas stump tour, while McCain receives scant media coverage.

PBS journalist Gwen Ifill, moderator of the upcoming vice presidential debate, dismissed conservative questions about her impartiality because she is writing a book that includes material on Barack Obama.

Ifill said Wednesday that she hasn't even written her chapter on Obama for the book "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama," which is to be published by Doubleday on Jan. 20, 2009, the day a new president is inaugurated.
