Call it karma, just desserts, or schadenfreude.  The cost to taxpayers of doctors' notes excusing Wisconsin teachers from work so that they don't get fired for illegally walking out on classes has been estimated at $6 million.

Meanwhile, those notes may not help some of the teachers keep their jobs anyway. If Democrats don't return to the state Senate by Friday, Governor Scott Walker will order layoffs from lists that districts have already been advised to prepare...

Lest we lose sight of it amid all of the presidential primary news, Wisconsin is going to hold some recall elections. The people have spoken!

Petitions have been gathered and now the democratic process will play out in true blue American fashion. So... just when will we be seeing these elections take place? Even the people in charge don't seem to be exactly sure.

Tomorrow, Wisconsin voters head back to the polls for round two of the 2011 recalls.

Big Labor lost big last week in its botched bid to punish Republican state senators for supporting budget reform and failed to take control of the state legislature. This time, two Democratic fleebaggers may be turned out for abandoning their offices and cowering across state lines while GOP legislators did the job the Leftists won't do.

Wisconsin's McIver Institute reports that the school district in Hudson, Wisconsin (part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area) is apologizing after showing a pro-Barack Obama video to students on Wednesday.

It's a sappy "I Pledge" video stuffed with celebrities made by Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions in 2009. The school district played the video for middle school students as a part of their "Peace One Day" event. In the district's apology, they wrote: "The reason the video was used was to show students small ways to make a difference in their communities. Most of the video provided viewers with examples like: end hunger in America; volunteer more; always represent your country with pride, dignity and honesty; and care for America's elderly. Unfortunately, the video also had a political slant. The District is non-partisan and does not endorse the political messages found in this video. This video will not be used in the District again."

The healing begins.

Three theories about the sudden Republican reversal. One: Like I said last night, with recall fee-vah already burning on the left, maybe the GOP thought better of adding extra fuel to it.

The Wisconsin GOP reports that Democrats in the Bay State are "using a fraudulent tactic to harass and intimidate constituents who favor recalling Democrat Senator Dave Hansen of Green Bay."

Somehow, calls are being placed in the name of "Bay Care Aurora" - a local hospital - by left-wing activists targeting voters who signed petitions to recall fleebagger state Sen. Hansen...

On election night, TV talking heads watching the Republican wave/surge/tidal flow across the country earnestly looked at each other and asked if the new Republican Senate majority can work with the president and overcome the gridlock.

Yeah, I know Americans keep telling pollsters that they can't stand "partisan bickering" and really hate Congress for its inability to get things done. But there's a strong hint that they're regurgitating sentiments that all of those right-thinking pundits tell them that they're supposed to mouth. After all, those same Americans just handed control of the Senate and an expanded House majority to the political party that has stalled the president's appointees, challenged his policies, and attacked him at every turn.

Judging from the close of his State of the Union, President Obama has developed a new-found admiration for the ability of the U.S. military to get things done.

So much so that he's now exhorting all Americans to be more like the military by lining up and marching in lock-step--toward his own political goals. Soldiers, Obama exhorts us, "are not consumed with personal ambition. They don't obsess over their differences. They focus on the mission at hand. They work together. Imagine what we could accomplish if we followed their example." By "followed their example," Obama means line up and march in lock-step with him in the implementation of his progressive agenda. Personal ambition, Obama says, is bad because it keeps the "we" from accomplishing the mission.

They're like kids with one parent who has given them cash to go to the candy store but who know they they might at any time get a call from the other parent telling them not to spend the money.

Does the kid wait for the go-ahead from parent #2, or set a new world "get to the store to spend all the money" land speed record? In the above semi-hypothetical example, the Supreme Court is parent #2 and the Obama administration and HHS are the kid in the store. Oh, and I forgot to mention that parent #1 gave the kid your money...

President Barack Obama was a pioneering contributor to the national subprime real estate bubble, and roughly half of the 186 African-American clients in his 1995 mortgage discrimination lawsuit have since gone bankrupt or received foreclosure notices.

As few as 19 of those 186 clients still own homes with clean credit ratings, following a decade in which Obama and other progressives pushed banks to provide mortgages to poor African Americans. The startling failure rate among Obama's private sector clients was discovered during The Daily Caller's review of previously unpublished court information from the lawsuit that a young Obama helmed as the lead plaintiff's attorney.
