Just imagine how in the dark we would be regarding this election specifically, and frankly the world generally, if it weren't for social media. It's on Facebook, Twitter and other outlets where stories generally first break, where we see in real time ...

However, every once in awhile you come across something so perfectly on point that it must be shared, and you wonder why our own pundits and our own party leaders are incapable of summing this up. (Well, we know the answer, but we won't get into that now). In any event, this exposé of Donald Trump was posted on Facebook and in my humble opinion, it's spot on. Give it a read and see if you agree. Last night a friend claimed that Donald Trump wouldn't make a good president; he is brash, he is racist, he is a loudmouth; you know the normal things people learn to recite after being programmed by television news. The one I loved was that, "Trump is arrogant." My friend questioned if one man could make "that much difference in the world today." To my friend's credit, she was respectful enough to let me respond when she asked, "Really, what has Trump done?"

What does the young, 20-something voter see in a senior-citizen Republican presidential candidate with shaggy brows, isolationist views, and an economic policy that predates?

Isn't this the same group that helped to sweep Barack Obama into office in 2008? We're talking about Ron Paul here, the GOP presidential hopeful who has parents scratching their heads as their college-age offspring gush about Mr. Paul's rather singular views (for a politician) on Iran (leave Tehran's ayatollahs alone), the gold standard (go back to it), and marijuana (legalize it), to name a few.

Alabama became the first state to adopt a tough law protecting private property and due process by prohibiting any government involvement with or participation in a controversial United Nations scheme known as Agenda 21.

Activists from across the political spectrum celebrated the measure's approval as a significant victory against the UN "sustainability" plot, expressing hope that similar sovereignty-preserving measures would be adopted in other states as the nationwide battle heats up. The Alabama Senate Bill (SB) 477 legislation, known unofficially among some supporters as the "Due Process for Property Rights" Act, was approved unanimously by both the state House and Senate. After hesitating for a few days, late last month Republican Governor Robert Bentley finally signed into law the wildly popular measure - but only after heavy pressure from activists forced his hand.

Iowa and New Hampshire have claimed the "right" to hold the first caucus and primary in their states, respectively. No one dares move ahead of them. Over the past several election cycles this has contributed to calls of "unfair" from other states.

Presidential elections are, as Paul Skousen, a former CIA officer in the Reagan Administration has called them, "a two billion dollar beauty pageant." It is a pageant with constantly changing rules and attempts by states to secure advantages over each other for profit and recognition. High up on the profit list are the news media. The media shamelessly court the candidates for their advertising money, while they brutalize them in their news and editorials. Is it any wonder that the Founders warned us about the danger of political parties? When the U.S. Constitution was written in 1787, Article II, Section 1 stated the following:

The Obama administration's crony green subsidy scandal is erupting like a solar flare in Washington. But do you know what your kids are learning in their environmental education classes about this red-hot taxpayer eco-scam? Chances are: not much.

Titled "Solar Power and Me: The Inherent Advantages," the lesson plan for middle-school and high-school students directs them to "take note of how solar energy is incorporated into the infrastructure of various cities nationwide and write a short essay about how they would encourage solar energy use in their own town." A more useful homework assignment would be to have these future taxpayers calculate how much their moms and dads are spending to prop up Obama's green jobs industry and its elite Democratic campaign finance donors/investors. The White House projected 65,000 new jobs from nearly $40 billion in green job stimulus spending. Instead, fewer than 3,600 jobs were created. Get out your calculators, kids: That's $4.85 million per job.

On "This Week with George Stephanopolous" yesterday, Senator Rand Paul and Professor Paul Krugman got into a quick argument about the size of government under President Obama.

So what are the facts? It depends on whether you're looking at the federal workforce or the total government workforce. The number of federal employees has risen under President Obama. There were 2,790,000 federal workers in January 2009 when the president took office, and now there are 2,804,000 workers. The fact is that there is no month during President Obama's term when the federal workforce was smaller than it was in the first month of Mr. Obama's presidency. The president took over in January 2009. Every month after January 2009 has seen more federal workers than were employed in January 2009.

It's probably President Obama's most politically effective line of attack against Mitt Romney.

The president argues that it was the unchecked, reckless, casino capitalism of the George W. Bush years - bank deregulation, tax cuts for the rich - that lead to the nation's worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. And if Mitt Romney is elected in November, the Republican will bring those policies right back, risking another financial collapse. But a book by Robert Hetzel, a senior economist at Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, says it wasn't Bushonomics or greedy bankers or broken markets that caused the Great Recession. In "The Great Recession: Market Failure or Policy Failure", Hetzel pins the blame squarely on the Federal Reserve and Team Bernanke.

A little over a week ago, on May 7, 2013 and in the midst of a worldwide economic depression, Columbia, South Carolina City Council members met to discuss the funding of a million dollar project.

This even as the State government continued its regularly scheduled hysteria over budgets, spending, and deficits. So what was the project so vital to the people of Columbia to be pushed through by a 4-2 vote of the council during the midst of such trying economic times? Was it regarding the road systems? Was it the dismal state of Columbia schools? Was it tax relief for residents? Was it economic development? Water? Power? Sewage? Waste disposal? Actually, it was the purchase and installation of 800 new surveillance cameras all across the city of Columbia that prompted the Council to spend $1.22 million, much of which is scheduled to come from an "emergency reserve fund" that is actually part of next year's budget.
