An effort to stop more than a billion dollars of taxpayer money from being redistributed to "anonymous claimants" failed in the House this week, but it may have set the stage for a congressional investigation.

Rep. Steve King's amendment to block $1.15 billion allocated for the "fraud-plagued" Pigford II discrimination settlement with black farmers failed on a vote of 155-262 on Friday. All 155 votes in favor of blocking the money came from Republicans. And 78 Republicans - including Reps. Darrell Issa (Calif.) and Alan West (Fla.) -- joined Democrats in killing the amendment.

A Virginia man must pay $1.5 million in damages to an adult entertainment company for illegally sharing 10 of its movies on the Internet, a court has ruled.

Kywan Fisher, of Hampton, has been ordered to pay the damages to Flava Works for sharing 10 of its movies on the BitTorrent site, TorrentFreak reported Friday. Flava Works sued Fisher and several others in 2011 in a case that differed from so-called John Doe lawsuits because Flava Works had detailed information on the defendants who had paid accounts on the company's movie portal.

An Obama administration green jobs grant program that spent $11 billion lacks a verifiable job-counting system and likely created only a fraction of the jobs it claims, according to a staff report by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

While Energy Secretary Steven Chu said the grants "created tens of thousands of jobs," the government's own National Renewal Energy Laboratory estimates it created 910 direct jobs. The House report criticized even those numbers, saying: "The job creation numbers that exist for Section 1603 are based on models, not actual data from completed projects. Neither Treasury nor DOE have turned over actual jobs data on the Section 1603 grants program to the committee."

Over the last 286 days the US national debt has rose from $15 trillion to $16 trillion at the record rate of $3.5 billion per day.

Most Americans might not have been paying and certainly aren't paying but they will one European style austerity measures are forced into place alongside a massive tax bill to pay the debt collector. Right now that debt has just passed the massive milestone of $16 trillion and only continues to skyrocket at astronomical rates as the economic prosperity of our future and are children's future is being sacrificed to fund illegal foreign wars, to plant seeds that assure more future wars in places such as Syria and Iran, and to implement a massive totalitarian domestic surveillance state to protect those responsible for said bills from the blowback being created as a result said imperialistic foreign policy.

California investigators searched Monday for thieves who made off with an estimated $2 million in precious gems and gold from a Central Valley museum during a brazen daytime robbery.

But they didn't get away with the biggest prize of all - the nearly 14-pound Fricot Nugget, a giant crystalline gold mass unearthed in the Gold Rush era. During their attempt to grab the rock, the robbers triggered an alarm that alerted authorities who swarmed the museum but were unable to nab the thieves. At least two robbers wearing hoods and armed with pickaxes threatened workers during the heist Friday at the California Mining and Minerals Museum in Mariposa, the California Highway Patrol said. No suspects have been identified.

The bill to increase the federal debt limit...would increase that limit by up to $2.4 trillion, which would be the largest increase in the debt limit in U.S. history by a margin of half a trillion dollars, according to the CBO and CRS.

In fact, according to records published by the Congressional Research Service, if the current bill is passed and the debt limit is increased by $2.4 trillion, the two largest debt-limit increases in U.S. history would come in back-to-back years, both during the presidency of Barack Obama. Up until now, the largest increase in the debt limit was the $1.9 trillion increase passed by Congress and signed by President Obama on Feb. 12, 2010. That law increased the debt limit from $12.394 trillion to $14.294 trillion.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the least expensive (in dollars) Obamacare health insurance plan in 2016 will be $20,000 per year for a family of five. The cost in health is immeasurable.

Buried within the dozens of pages of typical government argle bargle, parenthetical references and doublespeak are examples for Americans to use to determine their "penalty" for not being on an Obamacare-approved plan. Bronze coverage (the least expensive Obamacare plan behind silver, gold and platinum) for a family of two adults and three children is $20,000 per year. One relevant section, found on page 70, reads...
