Just moments before the Blackhawks parade traveled east on Washington Street, Chicago police stopped a man in front of City Hall, checked his backpack and discovered two guns.

Officials say there's no reason to believe a Matteson man arrested Friday morning near Chicago City Hall with two guns on him was planning on harming anyone at the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup victory celebration. Still, 37-year-old Roger Harrison faces two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of marijuana possession. Bail was set at $75,000 Saturday when Harrison appeared in bond court, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Obama administration distributed $9 billion in economic "stimulus" funds to solar and wind projects in 2009-11 that created, as the end result, 910 "direct" jobs, meaning that it cost about $9.8 million to establish each of those long-term jobs.

At the same time, those green energy projects also created, in the end, about 4,600 "indirect" jobs - positions indirectly supported by the annual operation and maintenance jobs -- which means they cost about $1.9 million each ($9 billion divided by 4,600). Combined (910 + 4,600 = 5,510), the direct and indirect jobs cost, on average, about $1.63 million each to produce.

Students in those districts can sign up in the home school category; the deadline is Friday. For individual families who are not members of bee-enrolled home school associations, there is a $10 fee per family for materials and enrollment.

When gay couples first sought the right to legally wed in California, they argued that they were entitled to all of the benefits of marital bliss. It was only a matter of time before that benefit extended to the right to split up.

Even as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals found California's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional Tuesday, one of the state's first gay couples to tie the knot was calling it quits. Robin Tyler filed for divorce from Diane Olson on January 25. The pair were among 14 same-sex couples who originally challenged the ban in 2008.

A two-sided market could strangle start-ups trying to compete with corporate giants for online services in education, health, entertainment, shopping, big data and so on.

A new court ruling achieved this by opening the doors for U.S. broadband providers to offer speedier delivery of Internet services at a higher price to those who can pay. The decision could end up limiting consumer's choices and stifling innovation by favoring huge corporate players over new startups.
