A Motorist who painted over double yellow lines to avoid being issued with parking tickets has escaped prosecution.

David Ritchie, 36, was charged with malicious mischief after he covered up the lines with black paint. All charges have now been dropped. But yesterday, Mr Ritchie said he had been looking forward to arguing his case in court.

Before the US House of Representatives, October 8, 2004 Mr. Speaker, the 9/11 Recommendations Implementation Act (HR 10) is yet another attempt to address the threat of terrorism by giving more money and power to the federal bureaucracy.

Most of the reforms contained in this bill will not make America safer, though they definitely will make us less free. HR 10 also wastes American taxpayer money on unconstitutional and ineffective foreign aid programs.

Beginning in January, the Eagle County Animal Shelter will start implanting identifying microchips into pets adopted from the pound. On the flip side, shelter employees will have the ability to check lost pets brought into the shelter for those microchips.

A top Google official said that growing abuse of the company's lucrative sponsored ad-search model jeopardizes the popular Internet search engine's business.

The main perpetrators appear to be competitors of advertisers and also scam sites set up for the sole purpose of hosting ad links provided by Google, through its AdSense unit, or Yahoo!, through its Overture service.

The Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) launched a campaign Tuesday to convince supermarkets in the United States to stop selling food, such as tomatoes, strawberries and nuts, grown or treated with the chemical methyl bromide.

Used as a pesticide and soil fumigant, methyl bromide is considered the most potent chemical still in widespread use that depletes the Earth's protective ozone layer.
