Today on Your World, Neil Cavuto reported that dozens of routine health care procedures may be on the chopping block. Several doctor groups issued recommendations to limit testing on everything from breast cancer screenings to E.K.G. tests.

This call is seen as an acknowledgement by physicians that many profitable tests and procedures are performed unnecessarily and even harmed patients. Furthermore, new mammography guidelines that advised women to be screened less often for breast cancer, have caused fear among some women about increasing government control over personal care decisions and the rationing of treatment.

Report notes FBI staffers who first spotted Hasan discussed the political sensitivity of interviewing Muslims who visit extremist websites.

Lawmakers expressed concern that a recently released review of the FBI's actions in the Fort Hood shootings showed an agency that let "political sensitivities" temper the aggressiveness of their investigation into Army Major Nidal Hasan. "An active duty member of the military communicating with a known radicalizer and recruiter should have been taken more seriously than it was," said Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.), chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies at a hearing to review the findings yesterday.

Web maps have come a long way. Improved data, cleaner design, better performance, and more intuitive controls have made web maps a ubiquitous and critical component of many apps.

They've also become one of the mobile space's most successful transplants as more and more apps are powered by location-aware devices. The core web map UI paradigm itself-a continuous, pannable, zoomable surface-has even spread beyond mapping to interfaces everywhere. Despite all this, we've barely begun to work web maps into our design practice. We create icon fonts, responsive grids, CSS frameworks, progressive enhancement strategies, and even new design processes. We tear down old solutions and build new ones, and even take an extra second to share battle stories in prose and in person. Yet nearly five years since Paul Smith's article, "Take Control of Your Maps," web maps are still a blind spot for most designers.

South Korea's economy grew 2 percent in 2012, its weakest performance in three years, and is not expected to rebound strongly this year, the central bank said Thursday.

The Bank of Korea blamed weak growth on a drop in corporate investment and lackluster exports, which offset the government's increased spending on construction projects and welfare. The government spending contributed 0.6 percentage point to the 2012 growth rate. South Korea's economy, Asia's fourth largest, is forecast to improve only modestly this year because demand for exports has been sapped by Europe's debt crisis and an uncertain recovery in the U.S. The central bank earlier this month downgraded its 2013 growth forecast to 2.8 percent from 3.2 percent forecast in October.

A couple years ago a family member called some of my uncles to investigate something. He informed them that while on his yearly family visit to Yosemite National Park he came across a new interpretive sign located by the Yosemite waterfalls.

He them called because he was surprised that he saw a photo of our ancestor Tom Hutchings on the new interpretive sign labeled as a Miwok. Tom Hutchings was a Mono Paiute who was the first mailman in the Yosemite Valley. Today many of Tom Hutchings descendents are situated in several Paiute tribes in California and Nevada. There are none of Tom Hutchings descendents in the Southern Sierra Miwuk tribe.

From The Western Center for Journalism in a piece entitled, "Spanish Company Will 'Count' American Votes Overseas In November,' they state the following in this excerpt...

"When the Spanish online voting company SCYTL bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States, it also acquired the means of manufacturing the outcome of the 2012 election. For SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SCYTL in January, supplies the election software which records, counts, and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states-900 total jurisdictions-across the nation. ..." And if that doesn't make you squirm, George Soros is closely associated w/one of Obama's biggest contributors who, himself, is involved with SCYTL, the company that is going to count the votes!!
