How difficult but important is the job of Nebraska case workers helping children in crisis? A new report from Julie Rogers, the state inspector general for child welfare, provides a sobering example.

Nebraska child welfare workers, the report says, need to be better trained to study the bodies of babies for signs of abuse. The workers need to understand how to look not only for major bruises but also for more subtle visible signs that can indicate an infant is suffering from physical trauma.

If you asked most people what color egg yolks are, they would likely answer yellow. Yolks have always been associated with the color yellow, which is unfortunate because backyard chicken keepers know better.

Backyard chicken keepers know that yolks can and should be a bright, bold orange, and those bright, bold orange yolks are a sign of a happy, healthy hen. Last year, I compared my pasture-foraging, insect-pecking, soil-scratching, whole grain-feeding chickens' yolks to the yolks of both their "free-ranging" and factory-farmed counterparts. The results were clearly visible: Yolks from my homegrown eggs were not only darker, but also fuller and thicker. Even the eggshells were denser and harder to crack. But what's the big deal about orange yolks?

The U.S. Government has been caught conducting an insane amount of vile, inhumane, and grisly experiments on humans without their consent... and often without their knowledge. These are the thirteen most evil, creepy, disturbing cases of human-testing.

Conspiracy theory nuts are known for being a little out there, but once you read the wild government experiment stories on this list, you'll be a believer too. Did the U.S. government really infect its own citizens with syphilis and not tell them? Sure did. Did other government agencies test nuclear weapons, resulting in radiation fallout on multiple innocent Pacific islands? Oh yes. And did top U.S. officials condone the research of corrupt doctors who were clearly torturing their research subjects? Click through the list below to find out.

Traditional treatments differ greatly from region to region and are often very specific to a location. Therefore, locally known and available treatments need to be included here and their advantages and disadvantages discussed.

Herbs and spices can improve digestion, stimulate appetite and preserve foods. A list of herbs and the beneficial effects claimed by people living with HIV/AIDS are given in the table opposite. The effects may not be the same for all people. People can try these herbs and decide for themselves whether they are helpful. They may also know of other remedies used in their country that they want to add.

Weeks after CPS of Ventura County unlawfully removed a child from an Oxnard residence; things are only getting worse. Fostercare, termination of rights and adoption is the only thing CPS is looking too. What happen to the welfare of the children?

On Friday, August 19, 2016, according to family members, Patricia Macias lifelong resident of Ventura County was heard crying hysterically. "Why? I do not understand why you are taking her if the judge granted me temporary guardianship." Sobbed Patricia. Witnesses allegedly overheard Monica Arevalo, a social worker for Ventura County Child Protective Service, reply, "You will never be able to care for her again; we will never give her back to you! We have the authority to overrule the judge's decision," before disconnecting the call.

A heel spur often goes unnoticed or misdiagnosed. What is a heel spur, and how do you heal one? Here are seven natural solutions to heal a heel spur.

A heel spur is caused by the displacement of calcium on the bone that forms on the underside of the heel; it may be one small bony protrusion or a collection of tiny, irregularly shaped growths on the bone of the heel, which is called the calcaneum . Heel spurs are sometimes painful - described as a knife digging into the heel - and other times, a heel spur goes unnoticed and is only detected by an X-ray.  Because knowledge about the symptoms of heel spurs is somewhat limited, it's common that it's mistakenly assumed to be plantar fasciitis . A heel spur is simply the presence of an extra protrusion on the bony surface of the heel, while plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia - a thick connective tissue band that extends from the heel bone to the heads of the metatarsal bones, which are five long bones in the foot located between the heel and the toes. This connective tissue forms a tie that supports the arch on the bottom of your foot. Strain on the plantar fascia leads to irritation, swelling and then a weakness of the arch - this creates pain at the back of the heel. On the other hand, a heel spur is only observable by an X-ray and is painful when inflammation develops in the tissues surrounding it.

The Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD)[1], a network of 77 EU and U.S. consumer organisations, today published a new resolution on consumer concerns about new genetic engineering techniques.

Consumers have right to know when new genetic engineering techniques are used, including in their food, but companies are lobbying to exempt such products from regulation. A number of new genetic engineering techniques have been developed which were not in use when current laws on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) were drafted.

The Great Depression was a time of hunger for many families and even today, many Americans remember great depression meals.

With all the talk about food storage and growing our own food, I did a little digging around to find out what some people ate during America's Great Depression of the 1930's. Surprisingly, a few of these were made by my mother and grandmother, traditions, I'm sure, from a more frugal era.

All in all, it's just another day in Sweden, where multiculturalism is pushing the once famously liberal Nordic society to the breaking point. Mass immigration, mostly from Muslim nations, has utterly transformed many Swedish cities.

"No-go zones are becoming a fact of life throughout much of Europe and especially those countries that have been most committed to a welcoming policy toward Muslim immigrants," said Davis. "Far from demonstrating a sense of gratitude, Muslims are insisting on ever-greater privileges against the norms of the indigenous society. While individual Muslims may seek to integrate into their host societies, the political nature of Islam means that, as Muslim immigrant communities grow in size and presence, their resistance to the surrounding political regime will necessarily increase."

Everybody loves a clown - unless it's hovering in the woods at dark.

There were two such reports in Cumberland County on Tuesday - one in Fayetteville and one in Hope Mills - and in Laurinburg, authorities said. In Fayetteville, someone called police about 10 p.m. and reported there were clowns in the area of Fillyaw Road and Applewood Lane, less than a quarter-mile from North Reilly Road.
