INDIANAPOLIS -- Sixth-grader Matt Porter didn't enjoy getting "Most Likely Not To Have Children" and "Sir Clowns-a-Lot" awards from two teachers at his school.

Matt said he received the awards in front of classmates during a ceremony at the Decatur Intermediate Learning Center at the end of the recently finished school year.

Kristin Kanter can't find enough accountants and legal professionals. She will scour this year's graduating class for students with degrees and internship experience in those fields, expecting to quickly place them in good-paying jobs.

Kanter, a recruiter for Robert Half International, is an indicator of the hiring outlook for the class of 2007. Nearly 60 percent of employers responding to a national survey said they expect to hire more new college graduates in 2006-07 than they hired in 2005-2006.

Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell said today that Pennsylvania's job outlook remained strong in April.

Thanks to a targeted workforce and economic investment strategies that helped the state post its second-highest job count1 of 5,796,400. Data released today shows Pennsylvania has added 46,900 jobs since April 2006 and a net gain of 168,200 jobs since January 2003.

A program manager in Washington state's child welfare system who publicly criticized his own agency has filed a $1.5 million tort claim, alleging state officials retaliated against him for speaking to legislators.

Bob Partlow, a 59-year-old program manager in the Children's Administration, said state officials changed his job duties after he told a legislative task force in 2005 that Washington's oversight of child welfare was "dysfunctional" and "disheartening."
