Earlier this month I caught wind of an exchange plugin being rejected during the approval process at WordPress.org

Not knowing much about the issue myself, I reached out to someone who would know, or could find out for me: Otto over at WordPress.org. Currently, Otto explained to me, the WordPress.org plugin directory is not accepting a handful of different types of plugins: exchange rate plugins, Facebook Like and Google +1 plugins, to name a few. He said there are already a log of plugins in the directory doing essentially the same thing, and if left alone there could be as many as two or three plugins just like them submitted to the directory every day.

If you love WordPress or work with WordPress, it's not really a question of whether you should sign up but when you should - straight away would be my recommendation.

Having a whole collection of resources in one place is always a great resource in itself - especially when it's categorized into neat little groups so that you can easily find what you need.

If you manage a blog or website of any kind then you have no doubt ran into the problem of spam.

Even if it is just a simple contact form, you have probably received some crazy gibberish about nike shoes, ugg boots, or male enhancement. And if you run a network of sites, you most likely fight the problem of splogs - those devilish attempts to create a blog on your network for a quick link all in the name of improving search engine rankings. It's called black hat SEO because it is unethical and violates the terms of being indexed by major search engines.
