If even half of what this anonymous reader who e-mailed about his experience as a Census worker is true, imagine the squandering of tax dollars taking place on a mass scale. Crikey.

Hi, Michelle: I would first like to apologize for stealing your tax dollars, but if it wasn't me, it would be someone else. I am an underemployed 20-something Tea Partier, and after reading about how much government waste was going to the 2010 census, I figured that I might as well "git me some of dat Obama money" until I find something more solid.

Mumbai: The 14-year-old girl, whose family members were arrested by the police in December 2009 for trying to get her married, told the Bombay high court on Monday that she wanted to study and pursue a career in medicine.

The girl, who had scored 71% in her school exams in the last year, was handed over to her parents after they gave an undertaking that they would not get her married till she turned 18. There are 19 new tax hikes in the health care bill, which the Senate passed on Christmas Eve and Speaker Pelosi is trying to "deem" through the House on Sunday.

Any one of these $500 billion in tax hikes could merit their own column-many have. There's been a lot written on the "Cadillac plan excise tax," the tax hikes associated with the individual and employer mandate, and even the tanning salon tax. But one tax hike is especially important for some of the two-dozen swing Democrats in the House: a new tax on medical device manufacturers. The Senate bill contains a $2 billion annual tax on this sector (it starts in 2011, and rises to $3 billion in 2017). It will be assessed based on market share.

Light bulb jokes have been popular for many years as a way to poke fun of stereotypes. I remember several old ones about how many Republicans it takes to change a light bulb, especially popular during the early Reagan years. It took one to screw in the bu

But this newest joke is no joke at all. Every single American will have to change ALL the light bulbs in their homes because by 2014 the incandescent bulbs we use today will no longer be sold. The breakthrough invention of Thomas Edison that brought civilization out of the whale oil age - the light bulb that itself became our iconic image to illustrate a good idea - has been banned by federal law. A pilot furious with the Internal Revenue Service crashed his small plane into an Austin, Texas, office building where nearly 200 federal tax employees work, igniting a raging fire.

In what appears to have been his suicide note, Stack is believed to have written: ..."I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well."
