We are buying organic, eating in season and buying locally. Our meat is grassfed, our bread in homebaked and I feel good about what my family is eating.

If you aren't aware of the danger genentically modified corn and soy products present to your families diet, continue reading. Find out the latest news and commentary on GMO food sources, eating and buying organic foods, nutritional news, food related health issues and much more.

Yvonne Maffei buys her cheeses at Costco, her chicken from Fresh Farms, and her frozen snacks at Whole Foods.

"Muslims can't do one-stop-shopping," said Maffei, 36, a Chicago-based Muslim convert who runs a food blog, myhalalkitchen.com. "We have to go to three different places to find the food that fits our dietary guidelines." Maffei is speaking of halal, an Arabic word which means "lawful" and refers, in this context, to food that is permitted under Islamic law. American Muslims like Maffei have long been disheartened by the lack of halal options in supermarkets and food-focused chain stores. While some attribute its slow mainstreaming to a lack of education about halal, others argue that the reason is a scattered Muslim population and even Islamophobia. But in the last few years these obstacles are being overcome as food manufacturers begin to seek halal certification and supermarkets like Shoprite, Pathmark and Walmart take note of American Muslims as a demographic worth catering to.

Did you know your meats contain meat glue? Just one more way food producers can sell more, while lowering the quality of what you consume. If it's so harmless

It creates a type of franken-meat in that it allows butchers to use the undetectable glue to piece together scraps of meat into a seamless full meat cut. England banned use of Thrombin coagulant last year. They found it mislead consumers to think they are getting a prime cut for their money, and also the original glue was made from cow and pig blood, something they didn't think was wise in restaurant meats.

If grocery bills seem higher, you're not imagining things.

Thanks mostly to a sharp increase in fuel prices, the cost of food rose faster in February than in any month since November 1974 - not coincidentally, during a previous energy crisis...

Audio Report: Kids with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder can be restless, impulsive, inattentive and difficult to handle. Many are treated with drugs, but a new study suggests that food may be the key.

Dr. Lidy Pelsser of the ADHD Research Centre in the Netherlands, writes in The Lancet that the disorder is triggered in many cases by external factors - and those can be treated through changes to one's environment. "ADHD, it's just a couple of symptoms - it's not a disease," the Dutch researcher tells All Things Considered weekend host Guy Raz.

It took a little digesting, but one thing was clear straight out of the gate; if we want justice, we aren't going to get it without a jury of our peers. Morningland was denied a jury trial.

Morningland was charged with violating statute RSMo 196.545 by selling "Unlawful Dairy Products". The most stunning thing about Wightman's testimony was when the Attorney General's Counsel asked if selling cows would reduce the somatic cell count and he replied, "Yes." This was when the dairy farmers jaws were dropping. Mine included. Based on this statement of the "dairy expert", the judge has ruled that Morningland had diseased cows in their herd and sold them to avoid detection.

The Obama Administration's landmark decision last month to overrule the ban on genetically-modified (GM) alfalfa will likely go down in the books as one of the administration's biggest betrayals of the natural health community.

But a grassroots campaign currently underway by the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) is seeking to essentially "overrule" the overruling on the local level, or at least put enough pressure on local and state lawmakers, as well as health food retailers like Whole Foods Market, to label GMO products so consumers can make educated decisions about the foods they buy -- and thus eventually rid the market of GMOs completely.

At a time when per capita global food production and national food self-sufficiency ratios are shrinking, a hungry world is set to grow by another 1.6 billion people in the next 15 years.

This is like adding another China to the world population. China has now replaced Japan as the second largest economy and has become the No. 1 importer of oil after the United States. As economic pressure on already scarce natural resources intensifies, the availability of locally grown food will be worth its weight in gold.

LAHORE: Asma Sabir used to buy fruits and vegetables from neighbourhood sabzi mandi and Sunday bazaars. One day, driving home from family lands in Sargodha, she noticed raw sewage being dumped straight into canals irrigating the fields.

Alarmed at the thought that the produce she was buying from the local markets had been grown in sewage water and treated heavily with pesticides, Sabir sought an alternative. She found it at Panjeeri, a store selling organic foods.

Courtesy of Time Magazine, with a hat tip to HockeySchtick, we see how the "Greens move on from 'climate change' to organic food movement".

Whoa! But, yep. The 'greatest threat facing mankind!(!!!)' flopped, in the end, so it's time to go back to small ball. Remember that. Greatest. Threat. Evah! Then...not so much. Basic salesmanship says to get them nodding. And the greens did that, peddling easy issues demanding "action!" (if usually by the federal government)
