US honey bees have been dying by the tens of millions, with annual death rates of about 30 percent. With fewer bees to pollinate fruits and vegetables each year, 'beemageddon' may soon cause the collapse of the agriculture industry.

Honey bees pollinate more than 100 US crops, including apples, zucchinis, avocados and plums, that are worth more than $200 billion a year. Since 2006, about 10 million bee hives at an average value of $200 each have been lost in what scientists call the Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), according to a new report by the US Department of Agriculture. There are currently about 2.5 million honey bee colonies in the US, which is a drastic decrease from the 6 million that existed in 1947 and the 3 million that existed in 1990. Last winter alone, the honey bee population declined by 31.1 percent, with some beekeepers reporting losses of 90 to 100 percent. In the previous two winters, beekeepers lost about 22 percent of their populations.

McDonald's, home of kids' Happy Meals and the Big Mac, has been cited by a boycott campaign for sponsoring conferences at which homosexuals are trained to be activists, according to the American Family Association.

"First, the company paid $20,000 to become a member of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and to have a seat on the board of directors. Next, McDonald's refused a request to remain neutral in the culture war by choosing to promote the gay agenda. Then McDonald's accused those opposing the gay agenda, including same-sex marriage, of being motivated by hate," the AFA's alert said.

Once upon a time, all you needed to be an organic farmer in America was a pair of Birkenstocks and a commitment to keep your products chemical-free. Those idealistic days of the 1990s are long gone.

Today, organic farming is a $30 billion industry dominated by Big Agriculture, backed up by Uncle Sam and a federal rulebook that gets longer every day. Today, the National Organic Standards Board keeps a list of 250 nonorganic food additives that can be used under the "certified organic" label. That's three times the number listed just 10 years ago. As the Soviets proved time and again, a good central committee can kill just about anything. Only a few farmers saw this coming.

Environment Secretary Owen Paterson rounded on critics of GM technology as 'humbugs' last week, and insisted GM food should be grown and sold widely in Britain.

During the course of his ringing endorsement, he managed to spark outrage and alarm by claiming 'there isn't a single piece of meat being served [in a typical London restaurant] where a bullock hasn't eaten some GM feed'. His belligerent intent was quite clear. The message he wanted to get across was that GM crops are already here and in the food chain, there's nothing to fear - and nothing we can do about it.

Parents who entrust their children to the care of Christian Kids Daycare are still coming to grips with what day care center owner Connie Kacir admits was "a major concern" last week when four 6-year-old children were served bleach water.

Kacir, however, maintains that the children, all of whom recovered from the unexpected concoction and whose parents continue to bring their children to the center each day, were not poisoned, saying they drank nothing more dangerous than "swimming pool water."

Carrol Krause, a former reporter for the Herald-Times of Bloomington, Indiana, had to retire from her journalism career because of an ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2014.

A few months ago she started having digestive issues and could no longer eat normal food. What hospice workers brought her as meal replacements horrified her. Krause writes: "Hospice had the very best of intentions, [but] the stuff they sent over was not real FOOD. In fact, I'm outraged at the idea that they feed this stuff to dying people." What the hospice provided to Krause was a bag full of products by Ensure: pudding, shakes, and a drink that pretends to be apple juice.

The media has been pounded in recent days after several blatantly obvious attempts to spin the national narrative were identified and condemned.

Yesterday, for instance, MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell took Mitt Romney wildly out of context to make it seem like he's never been to a particular convenience store when he was really making a comparison between the public and private sectors, and today, a Bloomberg article allegedly left the comment, "(OK?-I'M MAKING THIS UP)" in the text when it was published.
