THE MASSACHUSETTS ORGANIZATION responsible for running the state's child welfare system has had four different names over a period of 40 years, which is not a sign of success.

Each change was prompted by widespread concern with the way the agency did its work. Extensive media coverage of terrible incidents involving vulnerable children despoiled the organization's reputation to the point where a name change seemed a necessary part of any rehabilitation.

A new Colorado law allowing medical marijuana use at public schools is getting a second look Monday in a House committee. The current law allows students who need medical marijuana to use edible pot at public schools.

Medical marijuana has been legal in some states for two decades. But school districts and lawmakers nationwide are only now starting to grapple with thorny issues about student use of a drug still illegal under federal law. Colorado is one of three states where medical marijuana is legal that has any rules for use in schools, according to the pro-legalization Marijuana Policy Project.

One week ago Haruka Weiser disappeared. The 18-year-old Fine Arts major at UT never made it back to her dorm after leaving from class. Police found her body Tuesday morning on campus along Waller Creek.

Thursday officers arrested her accused killer,17-year-old Meechaiel Criner. We do not know when he'll be appearing in court as there are no pre-trial hearings on the calendar. We have learned his defense attorney is Ariel Payan. He's represented two high profile capital murder suspects in the past - Mark Norwood and Brandon Daniel. Payan couldn't tell us much this weekend when we talked to him. He said he has not met with Criner enough to release a statement. But we have heard from Criner's grandmother and his sister.

The state House passed a foster care improvement bill Friday afternoon. Under the new legislation, the state would put a stronger focus on finding foster kids permanent homes and prioritize placing them with relatives when possible.

One provision of the bill requires the court system to that Office of Children's Services workers do their best to find long-term homes for children. The goal is to get the kids a permanent placement within one to two years of entering foster care. At the moment, more than 700 children in Alaska are looking for permanent homes-a much higher number than in other states.

In a battle to halt government sponsored wide-scale climate modification, also known as 'solar radiation management,' two Rhode Island legislators have introduced a bill that seeks to stop geoengineering in the state.

The two representatives, Karen MacBeth (Dem), and Justin Price (Rep), have teamed up in a bi-partisan effort to pass "The Climate GeoEngineering Act of 2016", a bill that would help the state of Rhode Island monitor this largely secretive program, potentially revealing more information to the public about geoengineering projects happening around the United States.

Many people have a Facebook account, and they use it to show others what's been going on in their lives. With so many people posting pictures, it seems normal, and even safe, to post pictures of the kids in the family, too.

There is one major and very important reason why you shouldn't do this, though. All over the world, there are people out there who would love to get their hands on your children - anyone's children, really, but especially cute, adorable ones like your own.
