The inactivated flu vaccine does not appear to be effective in preventing influenza-related hospitalizations in children, especially the ones with asthma.

In fact, children who get the flu vaccine are more at risk for hospitalization than their peers who do not get the vaccine, according to new research that will be presented at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society in San Diego.

Glaxo Smith Kline expects to book further big orders for the H1N1 flu vaccine it is developing, pointing to higher earnings for the company in 2009.

Countries around the world are seeking to build up stockpiles of vaccine to deal with a likely flu pandemic caused by the new H1N1 strain, also known as swine flu. Analysts believe strong demand for both vaccines and Relenza will boost earnings at the British-based drugmaker in 2009.

Pediatrician Paul Offit has made it his mission to set the record straight: vaccines don't cause autism. But he won't go on Larry King Live where he could reach millions of viewers.

Despite overwhelming evidence that vaccines don't cause autism, one in four Americans still think they do. Not surprisingly, the first half of 2008 saw the largest US outbreak of measles one of the first infectious diseases to reappear after vaccination rates drop since 2000.

The state of Texas in law grants and acknowledges the right of parents to exempt their children from vaccination requirements for day care, school, and college for reasons of conscience including a religious belief or for medical reasons.

The Texas legislature passed changes to the statutes expanding the reasons a parent can claim an exemption but the Health Department has questionably also increased the bureaucratic red tape necessary for claiming the exemption. There are specific procedures for requesting an official state form and submitting it to the school.

TB vaccine can be dangerous for babies with HIV, but the vaccination practice will likely continue to protect the uninfected children.

Sacrificing some kids is OK, isn't it? Isn't it? In countries like South Africa, where both tuberculosis and mother-to-child transmission of the AIDS virus is common, the vaccine gives infected children almost no protection against tuberculosis and instead may kill them with BCG disease, the authors found.

Alarmist language over possible outbreaks of swine flu as well as a series of moves on the part of the federal government are fueling fears that federal agents soon will be forcing citizens to be vaccinated.

The Constitution Party, a fast-growing alternative to the dominant Democratic and Republican parties in many elections, has come out strongly in opposition to any "mandatory injections" of "potential toxic (H1N1) 'swine flu' vaccine."

LONDON -- GlaxoSmithKline has started testing its pandemic H1N1 swine flu vaccine in humans, and expects to start giving the results to government agencies next month.

Although some conjecture is unavoidable when it comes to the "swine flu pandemic," some troubling aspects of this issue have been factually established or are coming into focus.

President Obama just completed his "three amigos" conference in Guadalajara, Mexico, meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. They agreed that the feared spread of flu must not allow cross-border trade and tourism to suffer, so no plans to secure the U.S. border with Mexico.

A warning that the new swine flu jab is linked to a deadly nerve disease has been sent by the Government to senior neurologists in a confidential letter.

The letter from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health, has been leaked to The Mail on Sunday, leading to demands to know why the information has not been given to the public before the vaccination of millions of people, including children, begins.
