Giving paracetamol to babies to prevent fever after routine vaccinations may reduce the effect of the shots themselves, Czech scientists said on Friday.

While the paracetamol, known as acetaminophen in the United States, generally does limit post-vaccination fever, it also reduces the child's response to some of the vaccine antigens, according to a study in The Lancet journal.

While the federal government spreads propaganda and fans the flames of flu hysteria over the "Swine Flu," and subsequent flu vaccine, they could be doing more harm than good.

One should give to pause to wonder, why millions possibly even billions are being spent in advertising, to convince us to vaccinate children and family members. The Flu Mist nasal spray version of the vaccine is made with a live attenuated virus, which can spread the flu, even to those who remain unvaccinated.

School nurses mistakenly gave the swine flu vaccine to two students who didn't sign up for it - including a Brooklyn girl with epilepsy who wound up in the hospital.

The snafu and a similar mixup at a Staten Island school came in the first days of the city's in-school H1N1 vaccination program. City officials have stressed the vaccine is safe and urged parents to sign up for it - though less than half have sent in permission slips.

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO -- The H1N1 vaccine maybe in short supply, but it's still in high demand at prisons across Missouri. It's a topic that's getting a lot of buzz in states like Texas and Massachusetts.

Inmates in county or city jails aren't really there long enough to need a vaccine. It's the inmates in prison, who are locked up for months or years who health experts say end up needing it, and that decision is left up to county health authorities. So far only one inmate ended up getting that vaccine at the prison in Moberly, Missouri.

History shows us that vaccines did NOT eradicate the diseases that plagued humanity.

That is a common misconception -- in actual fact, it was better sanitation and hygiene in the cities that prevented the spread of diseases. These charts, from official sources, show us that vaccines (1) were not responsible, and are not necessary, for eliminating infectious diseases, (2) are not effective, and (3) are dangerous...

Harvard Medical School's Dr. Marcia Angell is the author of The Truth About the Drug Companies: How They Deceive Us and What to Do About It.

But more to the point, she's also the former Editor-in-Chief at the New England Journal of Medicine, arguably one of the most respected medical journals on earth. But after reading her article in the New York Review of Books called Drug Companies & Doctors: A Story of Corruption, one wonders if any medical journal on earth is worth anybody's respect anymore. "It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine."

Smokers have tried a long list of ways to quit: cold turkey, counseling, gum, patches and more.

Now, a small Rockville company is hoping it can make millions of dollars by creating a vaccine for people who want to kick the habit. Nabi Biopharmaceuticals, which is in the late stages of testing its experimental vaccine, called NicVax, took a big step toward its goal last week by striking a deal with pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline. Under the agreement, GlaxoSmithKline will pick up the cost of developing and marketing the vaccine if Nabi successfully completes the Phase 3 trials now underway.

The pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline says it has advised medical staff in Canada to not use one batch of swine flu vaccine for fear it may trigger life-threatening allergies.

Gwenan White says the affected batch contains 172,000 doses of the vaccine. She declined to say how many doses had been administered before the advice to stop using them was given.
