In case you were wondering just how out of control things have gotten as a result of the one-sided, astroturfed media feeding frenzy in recent weeks targeting the unvaccinated, here is one for the record books. Welcome to 1935 Germany -- 2015 America. Will the unvaccinated be forced to wear the modern equivalent of a yellow Star of David at some point in the near future? Not so far fetched in my estimation given the current environment filled with irrational, hate filled disinformation that has little to do with objective science let alone tolerance within the context of a supposedly free society.

Every so often, information circulates around the alternative vaccine community recommending that parents take a form to their child's pediatrician and ask the doctor to sign it, to prevent their children from being vaccinated and to educate the doctor about vaccines. Typically, these forms list vaccine ingredients and ask the doctor to assume liability for any adverse events that the vaccines the doctor administers may cause. I've been asked this many times. It's an understandable question, coming from those who are shocked to learn that people even consider bucking the medical system and their infamous childhood vaccine schedule.

To some, I may seem like some sort of modern day renegade; some kind of rogue in a vast wilderness of pharmaceutical influence. I suppose I am different, although I don't feel that way most of the time. What may set me(and millions of others) apart is how I reached this decision. There is not one sole reason that I've stopped vaccinating my kids; there are many reasons. I've been researching this topic in depth for quite a while now(spurred on by an adverse reaction my second child had to her twelve month round of shots), and I've come to the eye opening realization that the rabbit hole is much deeper than most people realize. I have many reasons for not trusting common vaccine science, but there are ten reasons that I feel compelled to specifically address whenever the topic comes up.

CNN: U.S. measles cases in 2013 may be most in 17 years...and wait for it..."people who refuse to vaccinate their children are behind the increasing number of outbreaks, health officials say"

Of course! It is ALWAYS the unvaccinated. And the answer is always MORE vaccines. Scientists believe that measles can be eradicated by vaccinating 80% -100% of the population. Theoretically, such "herd" immunity will interrupt measles transmission and end epidemics. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concluded that "immunization coverage of 2 year olds of 80% may be sufficient to prevent sustained measles outbreaks in urban communities". This is what is referred to as "herd immunity". Ok, so are you following? We need about 80% of people (children) to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity and prevent outbreaks. Just yesterday (published September 12, 2013) The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said childhood immunization levels are near or above national targets. Let me repeat: CHILDHOOD immunization levels are near or ABOVE National targets.
