Last year when the new strain of Neisseria meningitidis, known as W135, broke out in Burkina Faso, infecting more than 13 000 people and killing at least 1500, there was no vaccine.

WHO said that now a new vaccine had been developed by GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals in cooperation with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation "in record time" and was available at 65p ($1.08) a dose so that emergency stockpiles could bought for African countries.

Similar vaccines have cost four to 50 times as much, but to produce the new vaccine at such a low price a minimum order of six million doses is needed, WHO said.

In 1998, Dr. Andrew Wakefield identified a new bowel disorder in children with regressive autism, and suggested a possible link between MMR vaccination and autism.

He also called for more research. Since then, the health authorities in the United Kingdom have put forth much energy, and in excess of €3 million, trying to defend the image of the triple vaccine instead of investigating the causes of the documented autism epidemic.

UK Department of Health (DOH) has insisted that only the MMR vaccine be made available. This has forced parents, who are concerned about the safety of the triple vaccine, to privately purchase (if they can afford them) monovalent vaccines for their children, or to forgo vaccination altogether. The stand that the DOH has chosen to take goes against its own directive in “Immunization against Infectious Disease 1988”: “For children whose parents refuse MMR vaccine, single antigen measles will be available.”

A government-convened panel of scientists in the UK is considering a proposal to use vaccines, currently under development by pharmaceutical corporations, to immunize children against "euphoria" from drugs such as heroin, cocaine and nicotine.

It's only a matter of time until some of our own drug war zealots or anti-drug mad scientists take the idea up here in the US, no matter how dangerous and immoral it is.

Hundreds of parents who claim their children were damaged by the MMR triple vaccine are to challenge the decision to withdraw legal aid funding for their court battle.

Jeremy Stuart-Smith QC, representing the lead cases in a group action involving around 1,000 claimants, told Mr Justice Keith at the high court in London yesterday that an action was being launched to challenge the decision of the Legal Services Commission to withdraw support. The judicial review application will go ahead only if the commission grants legal aid for the action against itself.

If you go to a doctor, you want them to know your medical history. That includes your records from other doctors.

But some parents in the Coastal Empire have had trouble getting their children treated or in school because they can't get those records. Parents say with little notice, their doctor closed up shop, and without records they must start from scratch.

R. Michael Smith, a judge of the Superior Court of the State of California, heard a custody case involving a woman who moved to Colorado and took her son out of state. During the legal proceeding, it was revealed that the woman -- the daughter of a doctor of chiropractic -- had refused to allow her child all the vaccines normally "recommended" by the drug and medical industry.

The Consumers Association of Penang has urged the Health Ministry to conduct a proper evaluation before carrying out mass measles vaccination to immunise 4.5 million children nationwide.

He said that studies overseas had shown that measles continued to occur even in children who had been fully vaccinated. Those who contacted measles were usually below the age of 10, but now, following years of vaccinations, more adults were being infected.
