Last week a Minnesota man charged with violating the state's restrictions on raw milk sales was acquitted in what he and his supporters called a victory for consumer freedom.

JEDDAH -- A ghostly television advert for a new type of pneumococcal vaccine has caused a mad rush of parents flocking to hospitals to vaccinate their young children.

The pneumococcal advert begins with the camera showing a set of musical toys dangling over a baby's cot and then moving to show the cot empty followed by a flash of writing saying the baby has died due to not being vaccinated. The advert further urged parents to vaccinate their young children.

As the mumps outbreak spreads in part of Arkansas, state officials should do more to minimize the disruption in the education of children who have not been vaccinated against disease, some lawmakers said Monday.

Those guidelines call for unvaccinated children to be excluded from schools where an outbreak has occurred until 26 days after the last instance of a person developing the swollen salivary glands often caused by the disease. Students who develop symptoms are excluded until the disease is not considered contagious -- five days after they develop the swollen glands.

Outbreaks of new herpesvirus in poultry traced back to merged vaccine strains.

The first successful vaccines, like Jenner's smallpox vaccine and the first Salk vaccine against polio, were based on viruses that do not cause illness or severe symptoms. Vaccine development has since shifted largely to the use of proteins that are used by the disease-causing agents, but there are still some cases where a dead or attenuated virus is the most effective method of generating immunity. The use of viruses for vaccines, however, has always come with a bit of a concern. When it comes to viruses, one-in-a-million events happen all the time, and evolution gives any viruses used in vaccines a lot to work with: many related viruses in the wild, and animal genomes that are littered with pieces of former viruses.

A new drug safety study in China reveals that vaccines are the most common cause of adverse reactions among children.

Adverse drug reactions are a serious public health concern and one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide.1 More than a half million children are treated every year for adverse drug reactions in US outpatient clinics and emergency rooms. The Shanghai study, based on reported pediatric adverse drug reactions (ADRs) for 2009, found that 42 percent were caused by vaccines, with reactions ranging from mild skin rashes to deadly reactions like anaphylaxis and death. Of all the drugs causing adverse reactions among children, vaccines are the most commonly reported.

A new insect-based, genetically engineered flu vaccine and vaccines grown in cultures of dog kidney cells rather than eggs are now approved by the FDA.

As recently reported, a hardier than normal type of flu has spread around the US, and much earlier than normal, causing some states to declare public health emergencies. To speed up flu vaccine production, the US FDA has approved a new insect-based, genetically engineered flu vaccine, as well as vaccines grown in cultures of dog kidney cells rather than eggs. And while mainstream media claims the flu vaccine is working well this year, a recent review of published research shows flu vaccines are ineffective at best, and produce neurological complications at worst, while having no effect at all on hospitalizations or working days lost.

Data from 2009-2010 shows that people who received the seasonal flu shot in 2008 had twice the risk of getting the H1N1 swine flu.

The Canadian press recently broke the story that new research confirms initial findings that the flu vaccine appeared to actually increase people's risk of getting sick with H1N1, and cause more serious bouts of illness to boot.

Some drug companies target poor, uneducated populations in India to participate in clinical trials, yet only a fraction of them are compensated.

Clinical research on humans is regarded as an essential component of drug research and development. It is only after successfully being tested on people that drugs are supposed to be brought to market, but how can it be ethical to use people as guinea pigs in drug trials without fully informing them of what consequences they may face? Typically such trials are only undertaken after there is evidence from animal experiments that the drugs are "safe and effective" ...but this is far from a foolproof method by which to gauge safety. Unfortunately, many die or are seriously injured after taking part in drug trials, and, worse still, only a fraction are ever compensated.

If you listen to mainstream media news, you'll be told that polio has now been eradicated in India - an accomplishment the Polio Global Eradication Initiative, founded in 1988 by the WHO. The CDC are attributing to the intense polio vaccination campaign.

The Indian government reportedly had 2.3 million vaccine administrators visit over 200 million households, with oral polio vaccinations given to nearly 170 million children 5 years of age and younger;1 health officials are now doubling their efforts to conquer polio in Pakistan as well. What you're NOT learning from the mainstream media, however, is that there's a growing public movement fighting the profound misinformation about the vaccine, mainly because VACCINE-CAUSED polio is maiming and even killing a growing number of children every day, far outstripping the damage done by the wild-type polio that has been supplanted by the manmade form found within the vaccine.
