What Happened When I Refused My Tetanus Vaccine

I wanted to share my story about what happened when I refused my tetanus vaccine after having cut myself with a knife at home.

I want to share this story not as an example of what will or will not happen every time, but more so as an example of how it's important we stay open minded and question things before we blindly accept them. I got into studying vaccines, their efficacy and safety a few years ago when I began to hear more and more about people being injured by vaccines. There is an unfortunate belief going around that vaccines are completely safe and scientific studies have proven this to be the case. I'm here to say, this is not true. Regardless of the fact there are studies to show efficacy and safety, there are also a large number of studies showing the dangers and lack of efficacy when it comes to vaccines. Simply search the web, published journals, study's, books, documentaries and stories of doctors who have spoken out about this to get more information. Be careful with your sources on both sides of the argument. The existence of the argument itself shows that there is a clear case to be made when it comes to having to re-think vaccines. At this point, to continue to make uneducated decisions about vaccines has become an irresponsible choice given the amount of information now available. I'm not telling you what choice to make, but educate yourself of the dangers on both sides.

A Texas bill to speed up medical exams for foster children turned into a debate over who makes decisions for your children - parents or the state.

Legislators in Texas have been working toward passing a host of laws to reform the state's Child Protective Services agency. New legislation has been crafted to improve the agency which has seen multiple dilemmas resulting in detrimental safety problems for children in the state. There have been several bills introduced this year aimed at improving the agency. One bill, in particular, House Bill 39, seeks in part to require medical exams to be performed more quickly on children who have been newly placed into the foster care system. HB 39, introduced by Rep. Gene Wu (D-Houston), would mandate that the state's Department of Family Protective Services schedule a medical examination for children who have been in temporary state custody for longer than three business days. Children in rural locations would be required to receive a medical exam within seven business days.

Washington state is home to the nation's highest rate of parents exempting their children from vaccines, according to a new federal report released Thursday.

The study by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a first of its kind, says that 6.2 percent of kindergarteners in the state have parent-signed exemptions for one or more vaccines for diseases such as polio, whooping cough, measles, hepatitis B and chickenpox. The data from the CDC was collected from the 2009-2010 school year.

Scientific evidence does not support rolling out vaccines against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in the general population, British researchers have warned India. HPV is linked to cervical cancer.

Pending a final decision, the vaccines are being aggressively promoted through doctors, social media and publicity campaigns by drug companies - GSK and Merck. PATH, a charity supported by Bill Gates, is also keen to promote the two vaccines in India.

And once again, the White House has been caught lying regarding a sequester scare tactic, this time with respect to a claim about the effect a measly 2% budget cut might have on vaccinations: Yet, in raising the alarm about the sequester, the administration has highlighted the decline in vaccinations that it claims would result from sequestration. The White House Web site displays an interactive map, which when you click on Maryland, it declares: "2,050 fewer children will get vaccines for diseases like measles and whopping cough." It's even worse for Virginia: 3,530 children would supposedly be affected.
