Ball State University Students Refusing Flu Shots

Students at Ball State University are declining to get flu shots. Last year, the University claims it had a pretty intense flu season, which they termed a "flu epidemic," but that hasn't sent a rush of students to the flu shot nurse.

Ball State University wants to believe it is just "youth" causing a great portion of their students to refuse the flu shot, but that might not be the entire case. While the University does it's best to paint a picture of the young and naive, many students are just saying it flat out makes them sick.

I like the Way the Vaccine Argument is Going... Both Nationally, and in California... It is True - California is the Torch and the Powder Keg... So. let's light it off...

We here in the North American Health Freedom Movement thank you very much Big Pharma, you corrupt bureaucrats, and you sleazy Democrats. You did our recruiting for us. Now we will train the newly angry ones how to put you in your place with satisfying regularity. It is time, of course, to shut down the US Vaccine Program entirely, starting with the CDC "Vaccines For Children Program."

What if measles is actually not a dreaded disease, but a normal milestone in the development of a healthy immune system for our children?

I've been going down a slope [with vaccines]. I vaccinated all my children. Of course, in those days, there were many fewer vaccines. I wasn't all together comfortable with it, but I believed it was the law and I trusted the government. Today, if I were a young mother I would definitely do things differently. I would find a way to avoid vaccines. This means that we have to start thinking about homeschooling our kids - this is huge! They are making sure that avoiding vaccinations is difficult. I would try everything I could to get out.

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, so please don't think it is. I am seeing this vaccine argument all over my newsfeed lately, and I have to put in my two cents.

If you're pro-vaccine, I get where you're coming from. Up until last year, I was right there with you. Some of my older friends might remember I used to joke about how stupid "the anti-vaccine movement" is. I used to mock them. I would roll my eyes at parents who claimed vaccines caused their kids' autism. I figured they were understandably angry and full of grief, and looking for someone or something to blame for a mysterious disorder for which a cause cannot be found. I have two children with autism. I get it.

An 8 year old boy in Laos is now dead after taking a polio oral vaccine. The child immediately suffered paralysis after the vaccination and ended up dying 5 days following.

Laos has been polio free since 1993, which begs the question: is the vaccine reviving the illness? If so, get ready, because the WHO and CDC have activated emergency immunization efforts which means we can expect a lot more vaccinating.

Farmington education officials have updated policies regarding vaccination and immunization in compliance with new state requirements.

The New Mexico Department of Health issued a call in July for school districts to follow state statutes following a nationwide measles outbreak. Farmington school board policy also will allow for the district to dis-enroll students who are not immunized on Dec. 1.

SAN DIEGO, California - Many Americans are not getting the recommended vaccines before traveling to avoid infections such as measles and hepatitis A, according to two new studies.

Lack of vaccination was due to both provider (52%) and patient (48%) decisions. Providers most frequently deemed the vaccination "not indicated" because of the itinerary or referred the patient to a primary care provider. Patients often refused vaccination because they were not concerned about illness, the study authors report.
