Medical Health News

We have some real problems and they are only going to get worse. We have a right to know what we are eating. People are getting allergies, this isn't normal folks. If we don't pay attention to what's happening, in our food supply, to our farmers, the plants, and ultimately our grocery store we are going to wake up one day and realize we trusted the health of our children and the health of our families to the government. And the government let us down.

I was asked this week to speak about the effects of genetically modified foods on the cardiovascular system for a group of health care providers and the public.

Was I shocked to learn that eating GMO foods can increase the rate of heart attacks, strokes, and bypass surgeries in multiple medical studies in humans? No ... because these studies don't exist. In fact, I couldn't present a clear scientific argument linking GMO foods with the development of heart disorders. I'm not an alarmist and I believe in the scientific process. However, on a personal level, I've instituted tighter rules in my home about food purchases. The more I learned about GMOs, the more I decided to just say no.

I understand that there are a number of Republicans (including Yours Truly) who are currently campaigning to become delegates to the Republican National Convention who have formerly expressed support for the presidential candidate, Ron Paul.

Like me, they may be running into some questions about their loyalty to the "presumptive candidate", Mitt Romney. For that reason, and others that I will soon explain, I thought it was high time for me to officially switch my support from Ron Paul and go on record endorsing Mitt Romney for President of the United States.

Aren't critics of genetically engineered food anti-science? Isn't the debate over GMOs (genetically modified organisms) a spat between emotional but ignorant activists on one hand and rational GM-supporting scientists on the other?

A new report released today, "GMO Myths and Truths",[1] challenges these claims. The report presents a large body of peer-reviewed scientific and other authoritative evidence of the hazards to health and the environment posed by genetically engineered crops and organisms (GMOs). Unusually, the initiative for the report came not from campaigners but from two genetic engineers who believe there are good scientific reasons to be wary of GM foods and crops.

Ventura County, Calif., is home to roughly a thousand children who end up in the tough and disruptive world of foster care. These adolescents live transient existences, sometimes changing homes two or even three times in a year.

But officials in Ventura County have an idea that might help: Give every foster kid an "electronic backpack." The county announced in June that it will phase in a digital repository of health, education and juvenile probation records for foster youth that will be stored and accessed from one centralized location. While policymakers have sought for years to improve electronic medical records for the general population, the issue is particularly relevant for children in foster care, who tend to suffer disproportionate rates of physical ailments, such as asthma, dental decay and malnutrition.

"If you watch radiologists do what they do, [you're] absolutely convinced that they are like superhuman," says Trafton Drew, an attention researcher at Harvard Medical School.

About three years ago, Drew started visiting the dark, cavelike "reading rooms" where radiologists do their work. For hours he would stand watching them, in awe that they could so easily see in the images before them things that to Drew were simply invisible. "These tiny little nodules that I can't even see when people point to them - they're just in a different world when it comes to finding this very, very hard-to-find thing," Drew says. But radiologists still sometimes fail to see important things, and Drew wanted to understand more. Because of his line of work, he was naturally familiar with one of the most famous studies in the field of attention research, the Invisible Gorilla study.

Ah, for the good ole' days.

Do you remember way back when Americans, unsatisfied with the current state of affairs, would just grab the kids, the dog, a couple of cans of gasoline, a box of matches and just go light up the town? Good times. Over at The Atlantic, Emily Badger asks the same question.

The intellectual transformation from left to right.

These days it may seem as though the entire nation is moving ever leftward. But on the personal level it's actually much more usual for political change to go in the opposite direction: from left to right. It's not that uncommon an event, either - in fact, there's a whole literature of political memoir written by left-to-right changers (such as David Horowitz and Norman Podhoretz, to name just two).

Most smokers eat junk food nearly every day of their smoking lives, because they know that the cigarettes are already destroying most of their "healthy living," so why bother to eat right, right?

There are 45 million smokers in the United States, and coincidentally Americans eat about 50 billion hamburgers a year, so go figure. In fact, McDonald's alone sells 75 burgers every second of every day.

John Stossel invited former Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson along with David Boaz to discuss the aftermath of the 2012 elections.

Fox Business anchor John Stossel invited former Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson along with David Boaz to discuss the aftermath of the 2012 elections. Why didn't libertarians win in 2012? Johnson discussed the gap between people who self identify as small "l" libertarians and those who vote for the Libertarian Party candidates, big "L" Libertarians. In this seven minute segment, Stossel, Boaz and Johnson break down the state of the liberty movement in 2013. Are politics or ideas more important to advance the cause?

Think about this; Why does the US government need 30,000 Guillotines and over 600 Million rounds of hollow point bullets?

There are over 800 prison camps in the United States. All fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards. But they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the attorney general's signature on a warrant to which a list of names is attached. Ask yourself if you really want to be on THE list. The Rex 84 Program was established on the reasoning that if a "mass exodus" of illegal aliens crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be quickly rounded up and detained in detention centers by FEMA. Rex 84 allowed many military bases to be closed down and to be turned into prisons. Operation Cable Splicer and Garden Plot are the two sub programs which will be implemented once the Rex 84 program is initiated for its proper purpose. Garden Plot is the program to control the population. Cable Splicer is the program for an orderly takeover of the state and local governments by the federal government. FEMA is the executive arm of the coming police state and thus will head up all operations. The Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the Federal Register also are part of the legal framework for this operation.
