We have some real problems and they are only going to get worse. We have a right to know what we are eating. People are getting allergies, this isn't normal folks. If we don't pay attention to what's happening, in our food supply, to our farmers, the plants, and ultimately our grocery store we are going to wake up one day and realize we trusted the health of our children and the health of our families to the government. Traditional in-person bullying is far more common than cyberbullying among today's youth, attendees at a U.S. psychological association meeting were told.

The research and a recommendation that traditional bullying should be the primary focus of prevention programs were presented at the American Psychological Association's convention in Orlando, Fla. "Claims by the media and researchers that cyberbullying has increased dramatically and is now the big school bullying problem are largely exaggerated," psychologist Dan Olweus of the University of Bergen, Norway, said. "There is very little scientific support to show that cyberbullying has increased over the past five to six years, and this form of bullying is actually a less frequent phenomenon."

Don't hold your breath waiting for a rebate from a U.S. insurance company, a law professor advised.

The new healthcare act requires insurance companies with high administrative costs - those deemed not paying out enough in insurance benefits - return money in one of a variety of forms to their customers. San Francisco transportation officials said workers repairing an escalator had to call in a hazardous materials team to remove human excrement.

Bay Area Rapid Transportation officials said a crew pulled apart a broken escalator at the Civic Center Station and discovered such a high volume of human fecal matter that a hazardous materials team had to be called in to remove it, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Thursday. Officials said human excrement is a frequent cause of malfunction for BART escalators. They said homeless people will often use the stairwells for sleeping or relieving themselves once the stations close.

Voters in California could soon decide to make the state the first in the country to require labels identifying genetically engineered foods.

Proposition 37 on the November ballot has seen the natural food industry and activists on one side and multinational companies, including PepsiCo, Coca-Cola and Kellogg, on the other already raising nearly $4 million combined for campaigns to sway voters one way or the other on genetically modified, or GMO, food products. The outcome in California could have nationwide impacts, as experts say an estimated 70 percent to 80 percent of processed foods sold in supermarkets could fall under a labeling requirement.
