We have some real problems and they are only going to get worse. We have a right to know what we are eating. People are getting allergies, this isn't normal folks. If we don't pay attention to what's happening, in our food supply, to our farmers, the plants, and ultimately our grocery store we are going to wake up one day and realize we trusted the health of our children and the health of our families to the government. And the government let us down.

Whenever I see my 10-year-old daughter brimming over with so much energy that she jumps up in the middle of supper to run around the table, I think to myself, "those young mitochondria."

Mitochondria are our cells' energy dynamos. Descended from bacteria that colonized other cells about 2 billion years, they get flaky as we age. A prominent theory of aging holds that decaying of mitochondria is a key driver of aging. While it's not clear why our mitochondria fade as we age, evidence suggests that it leads to everything from heart failure to neurodegeneration, as well as the complete absence of zipping around the supper table.

If anyone needs a reminder on the absurdity of the U.S. approach to drugs, consider the fact that cannabis is classified as a Schedule 1 drug with "no currently accepted medical use" and a "high potential for abuse."

Still, alcohol is left to the states to regulate, untouched by the fateful 1970 CSA that began Nixon's War on Drugs and spawned the DEA. As we have reported, this war against freedom was targeted at blacks and "hippies" who drove the counter-culture force demanding an end to militarism.

In June, Dr. Barbara Bowman, a high-ranking official within the Centers for Disease Control, unexpectedly departed the agency, two days after information came to light indicating that she had been communicating regularly with a leading Coca-Cola advocate.

Now, more emails suggest that another veteran CDC official has similarly close ties to the global soft drink giant. Michael Pratt, Senior Advisor for Global Health in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the CDC, has a history of promoting and helping lead research funded by Coca-Cola. Pratt also works closely with the nonprofit corporate interest group set up by Coca-Cola called the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI), emails obtained through Freedom of Information requests show.

The pursuit of knowledge and advancement of medical research are among the many victims of the War on Drugs. Just as marijuana prohibition is now being dismantled under the juggernaut of reason, so too will the prohibition of psychedelics.

For thousands of years, cultures around the world have explored the mystical experience provided by psychedelic substances, using mescaline, ayahuasca, and magic mushrooms for religious ceremony and healing purposes. In the 1940s, western medicine began realizing the potential for psychedelics to treat addiction and psychiatric disorders. Tens of thousands of people were treated effectively, and psychedelic drugs were on the fast track to becoming mainstream medicine. But the beast of oppression reared its ugly head.

A British mother has appeared on national television condemning antidepressants, saying that when she was prescribed them she began fantasising about killing her own children.

Katinka Blackford Newman appeared on ITV's This Morning saying that the antidepressants prescribed by her doctor caused her to become aggressive, delusional and psychotic. What happened to her might only happen in one out of every 100 to 1,000 cases, but that's far too many when an entire family's well-being is at stake.

Fried foods damage your body and brain in many different ways, and it's not just a long term consequence, but a short term detriment as well. Just as a car needs good clean oil to run efficiently and not break down.

You simply can't lie to yourself much with fried food because the ill effects are just too obvious. Simply grab some belly fat or pinch an inch on a hip or thigh, and then try to convince yourself it's okay. Plus, obesity basically means people are storing fried foods and carbohydrates as body fat, and for about a third of Americans, it's like carry-on luggage you can't set down, or at least not until you sit down. Face the facts:

If you're a stomach sleeper, chances are you're not getting the best possible night of rest. "It's the worst thing," New York chiropractor Dr. Jan Lefkowitz of Body in Balance Chiropractic told Business insider.

Unless you rest with your head face down into the pillow, you're probably turning your head to one side and that can put a lot of strain on your neck and cause misalignment problems, according to Dr. Lefkowitz.

It sounds like something out of a science fiction novel. The body re-engineered to recognise and attack cancer, so that doctors do not have to battle the disease with conventional medicine.

Juno Therapeutics, a Seattle-based biotech group developing several Car-T products, revealed two weeks ago that three patients on one of its trials had died from swelling on the brain related to the toxic side-effects of the therapy. The US Food and Drug Administration temporarily suspended the study, codenamed Rocket, but allowed the company to restart the trial and enrol new participants a few days later. It is not uncommon for patients to die on cancer trials. The participants tend to be very sick, and such studies provide statistical evidence that a new drug or treatment can keep them alive for longer than the next best option. Yet in Juno's case, the patients, all of whom were aged under 25, died not from their illness but from the treatment itself - the cure was worse than the disease.
