Just days after the November presidential and congressional elections which gave President Barack Obama a non-mandate of 50.6% of the popular vote and the demonstrated supported of less than 27% of all U.S. adults, NBC's Brian Williams actually told viewers: "With the election now over, it is once again safe to talk about the economy and jobs. Now that it is not a campaign issue, it's back to reality." Still in Democrat-supportive campaign mode, Williams then introduced a report by correspondent Harry Smith about how "the idea that manufacturing in America is dead ... is an outright falsehood."

The trouble with bees. Their die-off is now global. We follow the bee problem around the world.

If bees go, we all know, humans are in trouble. And a lot of bees have been going lately. Huge die-offs. Colony collapse. All over. The bottom line issue, of course, is that bees pollinate a big chunk of the crops that feed us. In China now it's gotten so bad they are hand-pollinating blossoms in orchards. Doing by human hand what billions of bees once did. Talk about unsustainable.

Mrs. Obama Declares War on Chick-fil-A

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program.

The program is a component of Mrs. Obama's Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that's really bad news for kids at South Carolina's Socastee High School. They've just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A sandwiches at school. "They don't meet the standards," Principal Paul Browning told the Myrtle Beach Sun News. "We're struggling with it."

Military Will Not Rescind Reprimand for Airman Opposed to Gay Marriage

The Utah Air National Guard will not rescind the reprimand of an airman who complained last year about a gay wedding at West Point Chapel that he believed violated the Defense of Marriage Act, the airman's attorney tells Fox News.

TSgt. Layne Wilson, a 27-year veteran of the military, was formally reprimanded for an email he wrote last December to the chaplain at West Point and his six-year reenlistment contract was reduced to a one-year contract. John Wells, an attorney representing the airman, said the military coerced his client into signing the one-year extension after they cancelled medical benefits for his wife - who is suffering from stage four breast cancer. "It would seem to me that cancelling the medical benefits for a sick cancer victim to coerce an underling to sign an illegal contract constitutes cruelty and maltreatment under the Utah Code of Military Justice," Wells said. "This type of action is unconscionable and I would expect the Guard to initiate an investigation surrounding the case."

Health Dept.: Homeless Can't Eat Deer Meat

Hunters across Louisiana are outraged after state health officials ordered a rescue mission to destroy $8,000 worth of deer meat because venison is not allowed to be served in homeless shelters.

The Dept. of Health and Hospitals ordered the staff at the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission to throw 1,600 pounds of donated venison in garbage bins - and then ordered then to douse the meat with Clorox - so other animals would not eat the meat. "Deer meat is not permitted to be served in a shelter, restaurant or any other public eating establishment in Louisiana," said a Health Dept. official in an email to Fox News. "While we applaud the good intentions of the hunters who donated this meat, we must protect the people who eat at the Rescue Mission, and we cannot allow a potentially serious health threat to endanger the public." That statement set off a firestorm among hunters and lawmakers who called it outrageous and insulting.

Confirmed: Democrat-controlled Senate the laziest in years

If the fact that the Senate - in defiance of the law - has failed to pass a budget in more than 1,000 days didn't tip you off, a new report from Secretary of the Senate Nancy Erickson confirms that the current Senate is the laziest since 1992.

The Senate spent an average of just 6.5 hours in session on the 170 days it officially met, the second-lowest since 1992. The upper chamber passed just 90 public laws and 402 measures, both the second-lowest in 20 years. They confirmed just shy of 20,000 judicial and other nominations - or 19,815, a 20-year low. It's not just that the Senate is lazy, though: It's that they're apparently strategically lazy.

AEI resident scholar Andrew Biggs highlights an interesting study that confirms what most conservatives probably already know to be true of themselves: We understand why our liberal friends think what they think more than they understand what we think.

Haidt has one theory to explain his results, while Biggs has another. Haidt says conservatives speak a broader and more encompassing language of six moral values, while liberals focus on a narrow subset of those values. Biggs says conservatives understand liberal positions because they're inundated with them - by the media, by academia, even to a certain extent by the culture. Haidt and Biggs both have a point.

With all the talk of a "war on women" and, now, a "war on moms," it'd be easy to forget that Americans face a potential tax hike of $494 billion in January 2013.

Our good men and women in Congress don't have to enact that hike. They just have to do what they do best - nothing. Thanks to the scheduled expiration of various tax relief measures, Americans will automatically be slammed with an unprecedented increase in taxes unless Congress does something to stop it. It's Taxmageddon - and few folks are even talking about it.

In the clearest statement of what's at stake for Catholic employers when it comes to the Obamacare contraception mandate, a leading Catholic cardinal recently said that it is, in fact, a sin for employers to comply with the mandate.

Cardinal Raymond Burke told EWTN's Thomas McKenna that Catholic employers would not only be guilty of material cooperation with sin, but also formal cooperation because they would knowingly and deliberately be providing employees with contraception...

Holder loses FACE in a case against a pro-life sidewalk counselor

The Department of Justice - apparently because it has nothing better to do - has filed a number of cases against pro-life sidewalk counselors for alleged violations of the Free Access to Clinic Entrance or FACE Act.

Some time ago, I wrote about the case against Dick Retta, a peaceful, prayerful man the DOJ calls a "vocal and aggressive" anti-abortion (a.k.a. pro-life!) protester. The speciousness of the DOJ's accusations against Retta are representative of the weakness of their arguments in most, if not all, of these cases. Fortunately, in a recent ruling on a high-profile example of "the FACE cases," a U.S. district judge called out the DOJ in no uncertain terms for the ludicrousness...
