Wow. How to respond? First, give me a moment to overcome my shock and disappointment.

No matter how many times it happens, I'm always astonished when somebody essentially calls me a hater. Howard Dean doesn't know who I am, but that's basically what he just did. Because I maintain that marriage is between one man and one woman, because I believe radical Muslims have an anti-America agenda, because I'm not in favor of amnesty for illegal immigrants, because I don't want to pay for Sandra Fluke's contraception, I'm bashing gays, Muslims, Latinos, immigrants and, er, women?

Like conservatives, law professor David R. Dow thinks it's disappointing that the Supreme Court vote on the constitutionality of the Obamacare individual mandate will likely fall along partisan lines.

But his disappointment stems from his utter conviction that the individual mandate is constitutional. He's so convinced of it that he thinks any Supreme Court justice who votes to overturn Obamacare should be impeached. He cites Thomas Jefferson's call to impeach Justice Samuel Chase as an historical reminder that impeachment is and should be an option for justices who undermine constitutional values. I agree with him that impeachment of justices is itself constitutional - but what constitutional principles, exactly, would the Supreme Court be undermining if they vote against Obamacare?

"Progressive Inhumanity, Part One: The State against the Family," the article is "a think piece," so I relegated it to last-priority status, an item to enjoy as dessert after digesting "newsier" articles.

This morning, I finally read it and its piercing relevancy compelled me to share it with every social network to which I belong. Crisis is a Catholic magazine and Esolen writes from an unabashedly Catholic perspective, but what he writes has ramifications for anyone who cares about freedom.

This just smacks of the same mentality that inspired climate change activists to say global warming deniers should be purged from meteorology.

Kari Mari Norgaard, a professor of sociology and environmental studies at the University of Oregon, suggests that resistance to the threat of climate change at individual and societal levels must be "recognized and treated" before real action can be taken to effectively address the problem global warming poses.

House votes to abolish IPAB

The House of Representatives today voted 223 to 181 to abolish the Independent Payment Advisory Board, a 15-member panel of experts that has the power to, as its name suggests, independently of Congress cut Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals.

IPAB is one of the worst elements of Obamacare and would contribute mightily to the evolution of a single-payer system, as Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson explained in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed...

OK, so Nancy Pelosi doesn't actually say "Never mind the Constitution" in this clip, but she practically has before and she might as well have this time, too.

While I firmly believe that the Founding documents are best understood in conjunction with each other (as Rick Santorum says, "If the Constitution is the "how" of America, the Declaration of Independence is the "why"), the Constitution is far more relevant to the authorization of Obamacare than, er, the Declaration of Independence, which is not a blueprint for government but a philosophical statement on the origin and nature of the authority to form a new government in the first place.

About that ... CNN's Erin Burnett isn't happy the RNC clipped footage of her to include in the ad. At first, she says, she was "amused," but the more she thought about it, the more she was "annoyed."

Like her mother, Bristol Palin has been on the receiving end of incredibly cruel criticisms.

The negativity has run the gamut from passing remarks about a lack of intelligence to hateful indictments of the mistakes she's made (and earnestly attempted to rectify). But perhaps no one has been more unkind to the Palins than Barack Obama's million-dollar man, Bill Maher. Maher's mean-spirited, unrepeatable remarks about Sarah Palin have been well-documented, but he also once said Bristol Palin was "f--d so hard a baby fell out." Who says that sort of thing about an unwed teenage mother? Who says that sort of thing about anyone?
