WTF!? Police Kidnap and Imprison a Woman to Ensure She Testifies Against Her Kidnapper

Police in Scranton Pennsylvania are currently holding a kidnap victim against her will, to ensure that she will appear in court to testify against the man who kidnapped and assaulted her.

Faith Bronson is a 34 year old woman who was recently attacked by her mentally unstable boyfriend Ross Bonaddio. Bonaddio had assaulted and kidnapped her, and was holding her against her will. Bonaddio was allegedly under a delusion that aliens were inside of Faith, and he planned to extract them. According to a police report, he screwed the doors of his home shut, so she could not leave. After three days, she escaped to a neighbor's house where the police were called. When the police arrived, Bronson had already returned to her boyfriends house, where they found her covered in bruises. Since detectives had been unable to contact Bronson, and she had expressed in recorded phone conversations that she did not want to testify, they felt that it would be necessary to incarcerate her. Now she is being held captive by the police because they are concerned that she may not testify against Bonaddio.

Due largely to unauthorized leaks, we now know that the National Security Agency has seized from private companies voluminous data on the phone and Internet usage of all U.S. citizens.

We've also learned that the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court has approved the constitutionality of these seizures in secret proceedings in which only the government appears, and in opinions kept secret even from the private companies from whom the data are seized. If this weren't disturbing enough, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, created by the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial reform, is compiling a massive database of citizens' personal information-including monthly credit-card, mortgage, car and other payments-ostensibly to protect consumers from abuses by financial institutions.

This pretty much amounts to an empty threat, because no matter what happens, Obama will blame Republicans anyway.

Mr. Obama repeatedly lost patience with the speaker as negotiations faltered. In an Oval Office meeting last week, he told Mr. Boehner that if the sides didn’t reach agreement, he would use his inaugural address and his State of the Union speech to tell the country the Republicans were at fault. At one point, according to notes taken by a participant, Mr. Boehner told the president, “I put $800 billion [in tax revenue] on the table. What do I get for that?” “You get nothing,” the president said. “I get that for free.”

Steel yourselves, because this egregious revelation may very well shock you...

A well-meaning but perhaps overly ambitious federal assistance program that offers a taxpayer-subsidized benefit and does not have rigorous eligibility requirements, was fraudulently taken advantage of by millions of people. (I'll pause here a moment to let you recover.) The Wall Street Journal reports that, of the $2.2 billion the federal government spent to provide low-income Americans with phones in 2012 alone, more than 40 percent of the programs recipients never actually proved that they were eligible to receive the benefit.

Well, why not?  Sexual activity is as voluntary as drinking coffee and going to the gym, and at least the latter has potentially profound implications for long-term health.

While the federal government demands that employers provide free contraception and sterilization to their employees on demand, why not mandate a bunch of goods and services that have beneficial effects? Over the weekend, creator of the Dilbert comic strip, Scott Adams, graced us troglodytes with his condescending wit in the Wall Street Journal with a piece entitled "How To Tax the Rich."

Extolling the creative virtues employed by comedy writers to stimulate new story lines, Adams blithely suggested a myriad of "bad ideas" to tax the rich so that We The Lowly might come up with even more novel and "better" ways to soak those who already fund the public coffers to an inordinate degree (Adams has been pondering this for months, having written what amounts to an earlier draft on his blog).

According to best-selling author Lawrence Solomon who is also a Wall Street Journal contributor, National Post columnist, and publisher of the award-winning The Next City magazine, the demeaning of vaccine skeptics in the media defies explanation.

In a Huffington Post article dated January 6th, he writes, "No journalist would have had any difficulty finding dozens of distinguished skeptical scientists for the very few "rogue" scientists that the press has vilified." Soloman gives the example of how easy it should have been for the media to notice the views of Dr. Bernadine Healy who was the former head of the National Institute of Health, the former head of the American Red Cross, and the former Chair of the White House Cabinet Group on Biotechnology, one of several White House positions she held in service to three American presidents.

Wrongful death suit filed against Rainbow City, police

The widow of Inzer Allen Johnson is filing a wrongful death suit against the Rainbow City Police Department after Johnson was shot by officers on Nov. 17.

The suit, Debra Johnson vs. City of Rainbow City, accuses police of negligence, wantonness, police brutality and excessive force in wrongfully causing Johnson's death. Officers who responded were able to communicate with the man, Jenkins said then. At some point, the man, who still was armed, threatened officers and was shot, Jenkins said at that time. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. The attorney for the Johnson family, Julian McPhillips, disputed the account. He said while there was a disagreement at the time, it was about money and was minor.

Two Tennessee men face felony charges for allegedly vandalizing a McDonald's because their order was wrong and they were "cussed out" by the manager.

The Murfreesboro Police Department said Christopher Slate, 21, and Sean Mosey, 23, were charged with felony reckless endangerment and vandalism after they allegedly threw a brick and a piece of concrete through the restaurant's windows early Sunday, The Smoking Gun reported Tuesday.
