You can smell it on her breath from across the room
five horsemen and a Scottish tune
for a thousand nights there's a day or two
but dont count on money when lovers do
once on a train in a foreign safari
press the button on the gorilla cage
count down the puppies from ten to one
if its not your fault you've center stage
Twelve years old and on the shelf for four
sometimes at nine she'll pour one more
uninhibited - everyones staring
that's how it works when you're seeing double
another shot - somebodies missing
thats how it works when you cant stand it
will someone stop - i can't stand what you're doing
that's how i'd say it if i could speak
but i think the scotch whisky's drowning my voice again
You can hear her jumble words when she speaks too soon
never mysteries, confess what you didn't do
for every single answer there's a question or two
but don't ask for nothing when they offer you
once at a party six weeks in advance
remind her later but i've lost my chance
i may have screwed up a thousand to one
but i've done my duties and i want romance
