Cyrano I know you better than yourself
I have my own Roxanne but she see's the vocal elf
Here at my drawing board and there upon the stage
I am far from centered though I am every page
Cyrano I know you and all that you may feel
For I like you am writing what another man will steal
Love you know me as the author of many ballads for your ears
But behind the voice that speaks them is a fool shedding tears
For every word that's spoken is from anothers mouth
And oft he hears you praise one for cleverness and couth
Cyrano I know you and all that you may feel
For I like you am writing what another man will steal
Love you see me in the background nothing more than a minor role
With strings there stands foundation the essence of his soul
I give him words to woo you when he would serenade
I lurk here in the shadows but hope to meet your gaze
Cyrano I know you and all that you may feel
For I like you am writing what another man will steal
