Once a spot beneath the waves
drowning deep and yet i craved
the glory, power, that i'd made
another soul, another day
i swam beneath the darkest shore
never claiming heaven more
and there i found the truth in lies
where-with-all i learned to die
and drown i did beneath the waves
and swim once more - you might say "saved"
i got to shore and climbed to sand
and every grain another land
i looked within and saw the men
so very small and not much in
but each was one and all were more
in every grain upon that shore
I pitied them for being alone
as i walked away to find a home
and now i think as i look back
that maybe they had had their track
and i alone had walked away
another soul, another day
and tho i walk alone and on
they were there and i am gone
