"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
                                             -- George Washington

"If we stuck to the Constitution as written, we would have: no federal meddling in our schools; no Federal Reserve; no U.S. membership in the UN; no gun control; and no foreign aid.

We would have no welfare for big corporations, or the "poor"; no American troops in 100 foreign countries; no NAFTA, GATT, or "fast-track"; no arrogant federal judges usurping states rights; no attacks on private property; no income tax. We could get rid of most of the cabinet departments, most of the agencies, and most of the budget."

Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom by Dr. Ron Paul

"Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens' lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons."
                                             -- Congressman Ron Paul

End the Fed by Dr. Ron Paul

"The government is best which governs least."
                                                       -- Thomas Jefferson

CNN, in an attempt to frame the gun debate as rational gun control advocates versus wild-eyed gun owners, posted two clips edited from the Ben Shapiro-Piers Moran wipeout, while at the same time posting the entire interview Morgan did with Alex Jones.

This is by design; to many, Jones left an impression of a wild-eyed fanatic who couldn't have a rational discussion, which made Morgan seem as though he represented the rational side of the argument. Shapiro, on the other hand, was even lauded by the Obama mouthpiece Washington Post as "a foe of extraordinary polemical agility." Thus CNN edited Shapiro's takedown of Morgan into two smaller segments, here and here, while leaving Jones in toto here and here. Interestingly, the parts of the Shapiro interview CNN left to watch were the ones that focused on his defense of the Second Amendment as a bulwark against tyranny, leaving out a huge swath in the middle of the interview where Shapiro...

Remember when ABC News elided Mitt Romney's entire opening speech from their transcript of the first presidential debate? Now it's the New York Times that has cut a key phrase from Paul Ryan's closing speech in his debate with Joe Biden last night.

For those who watched or listened to the debate, remember Ryan saying this as he closed? "The choice is clear: a stagnant economy that promotes more government dependency, or a dynamic, growing economy that promotes opportunity and jobs. Mitt Romney and I will not duck the tough issues." Fine so far, right? But then Ryan continued, "And we will not blame others for the next four years."

The BBC, ever mindful of British obligations to their swelling Muslim population, decided on its BBC Sport website to name the capital of every country participating in the London Olympic games except one: Israel.

Even more incredibly, the site listed Palestine as a country and named its capital as East Jerusalem. But for Israel, a capital wasn't even listed. Israel's government, angered by the omission, responded with a letter by Mark Regev, the Prime Minister's Spokesman, to Paul Danahar, the Middle East bureau chief of the BBC...

It is time that the Washington Post was given a new name. Why? Because they have consistently misrepresented facts under the guise of "news" that savages the Romney campaign, then retracted the story when bloggers or websites uncover the truth.

It started yesterday with Booker responding to a tweet to Booker that said, "I believe that romney lies about everything...romney lies....he cares about nothing cept winning..romney is an evil person."

Newark mayor Cory Booker, who was flayed by the Left and referred to as "dead" by members of the Obama Administration after he defended Mitt Romney from attacks on his Bain capital record, is feuding with the Left again - this time over their lack of civility.

CNN has, in their usual fashion, patronized rural America once more.

In their coverage of the Shiner, Texas case where a rancher found a man attempting to sexually molest the rancher's four-year-old daughter and beat the molester to death with his bare hands, CNN couldn't resist the opportunity to lampoon such primitive behavior.

On MSNBC's "Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell," O'Donnell stated of Mormonism and Mitt Romney: "Mormonism was created by a guy in Upstate New York in 1830 when he got caught having sex with the maid and explained to his wife that God told him to do it."

Notwithstanding the fact that O'Donnell is an unhinged leftist, would MSNBC tolerate such open bigotry? Of course they would. Try Chris Matthews on Christianity, circa 2009: "The group in this country that most resembles the Taliban, ironically, is the religious right."

The Daily Beast has sunk to a new low. A column written by Kent Sepkowitz poisonously attacks former Vice-President Dick Cheney's heart transplant. Sepkowitz makes no bones over the fact that he wants Cheney dead.

Al Sharpton wants to have it both ways: he wants to be both a journalist and an activist. And MSNBC's President Phil Griffin apparently wants that, too.

Sharpton's MSNBC show, PoliticsNation, featured him interviewing Trayvon Martin's father. "We want you to know, Mr. Martin that you're not alone," said Sharpton, "and I don't believe in drive-by activism, and we will be there until it's resolved ..." No surprise there. Has Sharpton ever passed up an opportunity for rabble-rousing?

On Friday night, a young African-American teenager, Trayvon Martin, was shot to death in Orlando by a neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman. The media immediately portrayed the death as a case of white on black racism.

CBS News, on its Crimesider website, immediately called Zimmerman a "white neighborhood watch volunteer." Martin's parents accused the police of racism for not arresting Zimmerman. There's only one problem: Zimmerman is Hispanic.
